Australia still strong
by Finix on Jul 10, 2009 12:35 PM

England will have to pull up their socks,to upset Australia.Australia is still gr8 side in tests.Even india were found wanting in one innings in nagpur test, where dhoni and bhajji rescued the team.England sure will have to be more proactive and aggressive to knock Ponting and Katich out. Both play spin very well and know how to handle pace bowling of Flintoff and others.

If England do not get out Australia under 400,it will be a morale breaker for English team.

Also congrats for Ponting for getting 11,000 runs in test cricket, one of the gr8's of all times

Piterson is best option for captaincy. He wanted M.Vaughan in the side but Flower and Moorse don't. So seletors sacked him from captaincy. Strauss is not a good leader.

Ponting surprised me......
by Anurag Rathore on Jul 10, 2009 10:52 AM  | Hide replies

As usually Katick played very well. Both Ponting and Katich played with their brains. They emphasized on big partnership rather than quick scoring.

England is surely missing R.Sidebottom. Strauss captaincy was very poor, he didn't use J.Anderson in wise way. When England already had Pieterson and Bopara then why Strauss took 2 spinners rather than 3 seamers?

they wer concentrating on partnership as eng hv made a big total so ausis did nt wanted 2 loose early wkt. also their is no hayden/langer who starts playin quickly.

Virtually Hughes gave Aus quick start but got out in thirties. He is inexperienced. He should learn from Ponting and Katich. At one stage Katich strike rate was below 38. If Dravid or Gambhir plays that kind of inning then some people would have criticized them.

that ponting will nt a able to make any century in rest of the 4 matches. against india he made century in 1st match, again NZ he made century in 1st match n same wid SA. so its 1st and last century for him in this series.

i accept tht ys he did well ysterday. ys most of the ppl including me were praying tht he could nt make century. so wht, the performance of the player can not b according to our wish. if some1 has the capability, he will play irrespective of our wish so the ponting. every1 says whtever they feels.
now u tell wht u want 2 prove in ur statement?

Eng Bowling
by Jay on Jul 10, 2009 07:49 AM  | Hide replies

Eng Bowling attack looks like one of the weakest in the world. Bowlers like Andersen often strayed down the leg side too often and Ponting just feasted on the same. There was absolutely nothing in their bowling.

england bowling not good enough
by binoj peter on Jul 10, 2009 12:25 AM  | Hide replies

England bowling lacked penetration. Perhaps they should have gone for Ryan Sidebottom or Steve Harmison. Panesar has not been impressive for long. Anderson is good only if he gets his swing going. On the other hand, Aussies even if they lost Brett Lee's presence due to injury, could put up with reasonably best bowlers they have in their ranks

As this is a slow pitch so strauss needed for two spinners thats why he gone for swann and panesar and already three face bowlers are there.
