It was Gavaskar who proved that Indian batsmen can play top quality pace bowling. The fearsome pace battery of West Indies would vouch for that. He also brought some toughness to the Indian team.
just carry on, genious, for as long as you can; for the world would never find your replacement...a century is a minimum we want, that would be the 35th....best wishes
Many more happy returns of the day, Sunny. Actually at least 40 more so that you can complete that coveted figure you always loved during your playing days. A Century :-)
He lived up to the occasion of becoming the greatest batsman I have ever seen. Gavaskars batting came as a surprise. It was in my native West Indies that he made his double centuries. He was an enigma, a clumsy personality but no doubt a legend and one of the leading personalities who changed the course of Indian cricket history in the 20th century. Stars like him always have extremes of everything, a perfect defense and a perfect cover drive. I saw him batting in Guyana in the late 60s with Solkar and company. Even famous radio-TV reporter Tony Cozier was surprised of his scintillating artistic performances. At family home in Guyana(West-Indies) of a West Indian bats Alwin Kalicharan you will find lots of posters of Hindu gods, the Taj Mahal and beside a poster of Gavaskar. Tendulkar walked in his steps. Many will do. From The West Indies all my friends well wishes to Gavaskar. HAPPY BIRTHDAY GAVASKAR(from the West Indies)-Mr.Varma
many many happy returns of the day, in my childhood days, I was bunking my school only to see your matches. you are our real hero who taught us(indians) cricket & made the game interesting.
