Well said. Sachin and Ponting have more 100's than Sunny now and yet it is mentioned "Has 34 hundreds, including four doubles, to his credit - still the maximum scored by a Test batsman."
when was this thing updated?????? "His unbeaten 236 against the West Indies at Madras in 1983 still remains the highest individual score by an Indian in Tests. Interestingly, it was his only three-figure score of his Test career in the middle-order position - he batted at number four."

No Sehwag scored 300 against Pakistan on Pak tour. Laxman scored 286 against Aussie against Steve Waughs team. Regarding Gavaskars 236no, he came in 2 down for a score of 1 and went on to score those runs. It was a great knock

Yes, Gavaskar came in 2 down in that innings, when Indian score card read 0 runs for 2 wickets. So it was as good as opening the batting.

Has also captained India in 47 Test matches - still the maximum by an Indian, now held jointly with M Azharuddin. Is this correct? Has 34 hundreds, including four doubles, to his credit - still the maximum scored by a Test batsman. Is this correct?

Laxman and Sehwag beat this score in 2001 and 2005...this article is as old as Gavaskar.
