Ricky Ponting
by chandra prakash on Feb 01, 2009 10:29 PM

The current performance of Australia proves that Ricky Ponting is ordinary captain and even ordinary batsman. He always had a great platform before coming to bat and was able to bat from a very comfortable situation. The real test of a batsman will be the lone good batsman in company of ordinary other players and perorming well. Once warne, Mcgrath, Hayden, Bret Lee is not in the team, Ricky Ponting captaincy and batting is fully exposed. Now when Australia is early down with 2-3 wickets Ricky Ponting is also quick to go back to the pavelion. His captaincy is also now clueless. Those who considered him the greatest should really reconsider their decision now.He was only performing on the back of some other good players in the team.

AUSTRALIAN TEAM

They ruled for so many years so let it be. Change is inevitable so let respect the change. Due credit to Australian team for being at Spot No.1 and then the World Cup 2011 is still far away and question is who will get it? Based on current stats India or SA is strong contendor but I will not write off Australia too if they recompose themselves back. But can they?

AUSTRALIAN TEAM

Winning and losing is part of the game and it is a fact that no team stays at the top of the table always. The most important part is the spirit of the Game and the attitude which some of the Current Australian members need to learn. By trying to pass nasty remarks and trying to frustrate the opposotion team members does not always win games. Try to be positive, enjoy the game and%2

The Australian Pride is dented!
by rajesh prajapati on Feb 01, 2009 02:42 PM  | Hide replies

Someone has rightly said that "Pride comes before a fall" and the Australian Pride was blurring the emergence of younger teams in SA and India who perhaps are naturally more talented if not as hard working as the Australians!

Happy to See Australia fallen
by Mac on Feb 01, 2009 12:13 PM

I'm very happy to see Australian side going down, because this australian side was never worth being on the top (Ponting's team). I only appreciate Steve Waugh's winning team which was close to the invincibles. Ponting made aussie players like dogs, to win by hook or crook. It was really pathetic to see how aussies won against India in Sydney Test (2007-08 season) and managed to save their shameful defeat in the series. Australia's crown was already dethroned by Indians last season and again in their own backyard in the subcontinent.

Let's cheer South Africans for their achievement.

gavaskar was abs right when he said, ausis might hv been no.1 in ranking 'then', but was the most hated team.

this can b clearly seen from the discussion forum. majority of us r happy to see ausis fall from the top.

Surely aussies are down and out this time. But just see in the near future when Ricky ponting will retire and after that the aussie will shine under Michael clark captaincy.
The aussie team is going to dominate after 2011 world cup which comprising of the following team members.
1.Shaun Marsh
2.David Warner
3.Mickeal clarke.
4.Mike Hussey
5.David Hussey
6.Andrew symonds
7.Shane Watson
8.Brad Haddin
9.Craig White
10.Brett lee
11.Mitchell Johnson
Surely this team is having a bright prospect and we can expect a start of new era.

The biggest problem for this Australian side that you consider to be world beater is that it doesn't hv enough bowlers to win d game for dem. The downfall of Australia has happened due to their under experienced and less talented bowling line up (courtesy: retirement of Mcgrath & Warne)

You youngsters need some education
by Forrest Gump on Jan 31, 2009 02:25 PM  | Hide replies

FYI, West Indies was the dominant force from 1976 to 1987...same as Aus from 1999 to 2008....we all know how the great WI team has declined....and then never went back to their former glory..Australian system is a little better than that...they will rebound but after team building for a few years...Australian team in 1980 had declined a lot but they picked up again from 1986 onwards...due to Alan Border's inspiring leadership...some new Aus captain will definitely pick up the mantles again and rebuild the team properly...WI lost a lot of their people to Basketball in US...but Aus team has enough upcoming talent and will rebound within a few years...but what about India? Can India ever call itself No.1 and winning a world cup and all? Other teams are all rising to No.1 and then going down but what about out team? Shall we be at mediocre level forever? Ask yourself that question!!!!!!

That is why it is important to tighten up and make bold decisions rather than sticking to individual-praising

bold decisions like kicking out ganguly and dravid from onedayers have already been taken..over next two years Dravid and laxman will be phased out from tests too...but Sachin has to remain in the team and guide all the youngsters during overseas tours and also during key matches....don't take your frustration against sachin and belittle the Indian team...did u read what warne had to say for india becoming no.1?

Dhoni's team for lanka vis a vis Dravid's for WI
by Forrest Gump on Jan 31, 2009 02:23 PM  | Hide replies

Just 2 and a half years back, same situation happened. Dravid had been winning all the games in subcontinent (mostly at home), went to WI on a high and won first match...then lost the next 4 and the downslide happened....same with Dhoni...India won all matches at home under him now won first match of Lanka tour, lets see what happens in the rest of the tour...hope same thing is not repeated....

Why are so pessimistic! Dhoni is different to everyone. I think you are unable to digest Dhoni's success and desperate like your idol although the days are ending

let dhoni really win a few overseas tests as captain and make india team consistent(like not losing the finals of kitply and asia cups) then i will congratulate him...unless this happens dhoni is doing nothing new...
