Yes u r ight. Arjun's average is 29 and 22 in the longer and shorter versions respectively. But then the other selectors from TN, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra and Goa should protest and not keep quiet.

Arjun Yadav ?
by Govind Raj on Jan 23, 2009 10:30 PM  | Hide replies

Why none is questioning Arjun Yadav's continued selection to all teams except - Thankfully - the Indian Team ? South Zone has at least 2 dozen players better than Arjun Yadav and who deserve chances ahead of this guy!

This good for nothing son of Shivalal Yadav has got so many chances and continues to get chances in spite of absolutely no talent or performances to prove his worth. Papa Yadav must be a really STRONG Man like Lalu Yadav. Perhaps even better. Even Lalu has not managed to get his son to play for Zonal Team. I do believe Lalu's Son is better than this "Typical Influence Candidate". I am so very flabbergasted by this show of Nepotism in Cricket in this era of so called transparancy and Excellence !

And the worst part is... He gets to bat higher than Dinesh Kartik in spite of those hundreds of runs scored by Kartik [I don't know how he spells his name now]
:-)

20-20 Masala or The REAL Thing !!
by sanjeev suri on Jan 23, 2009 10:29 PM

The current Duleep Trophy match proves yet again that the longer version of the game is The Real Taste of Cricket !

Ponder over this in your dreams and guess who gets the 1st innings lead and then, if it will be enough to WIN !!

4 matches of 20-20 could not bring you so much "excitement" provided you know CRICKET !!

20-20 is just like "Desi" - all impact minus the pleasure !!

think of those names
South Zone: Viswanath, Prasanna, Chandra, kiri, and many more greats.
It was a really a grt cricket.
Now only in test matches we seee these names
cricket lost its charm at domestic level

Vishy and Chandra were great players. But can you tell me who else were probably better than the present players? You certainly suffer from the chronic "what a beautiful time it was" disease.

Btw, if you take the 1983 World Cup winning team, who, apart from Kapil, would have been a certainty in today's India team?

mohinder amarnath and yashpal sharma, the former an all-time GREAT player and in his second stint, an even better player than gavaskar against hostile pace (WI and Pak) outside india, and both GREAT one day players. yashpal won india our first win against the WI in the 83 WC, and mohinder the second...he was the MOM in the Final!!

Sreeshanth has to deliver now...
by j m on Jan 23, 2009 08:01 PM  | Hide replies

It is time that Sreeshanth delivers now (like Zaheer Khan in the Ranji final). It is not enough for him to take 3 wickets after going for nearly a hundred runs!!!! We have had enough of his `off-field` antics and his stupid `snarls` and `grunts` on the field.

He better SHUT UP and let the BALL do the talking. Or else he will be like a forgoten Hero.....or should we say a ZERO!!!!

Come on Sreeshanth......concentrate on any one thing., i.e, choose between being the best BOWLER or DANCER.

Pupil like u will see only the negatives. U shud have no doubt on the fact that he was the pick of the bowlers. There is of no use in being economical and remaining wicketless. It would have been different if it was a oneday match. In test a bowler would be useful only if he take wickets. Among the whole lot of bowlers he picked the highest number of wickets. Still u r not satisfied. U cant expect him to perform like Zaheer. Bcoz he is arguably the best left hand bowler in world cricket at the moment. Even Zaheer himself was not effective when he was at the age of Sreesanth. Especially in the case of fast bowlers they mature with age. Remember the case of Srinath. He was an ordinary bowler when he was below the age of 30. But once he became experienced he improved a lot. When he retired he was as reliable a bowler as Shaun Pollock.I strongly believe Sreesanth should be playing in test. In test he is an wicket taking bowler. He may not be as economical as others. But he should learn to bowl economically in odis.

Why not let him be ? Cricket is dependent on "characters" as much as the night needs the moonlight.
Much as i respect your viewpoint, i am still quite certain that you are among the minority !!
