What a sham atleast Vengsarkar got some talent like Wassim Jaffer or Rohit Sharma , gautam Ghambir, raina. The one who said that is currently riding on the success of the big town little master. Dhoni is joke in terms of technique. He is not even as good as Gambhir, dont mention sehwag, laxman, Dravid, Yuvi, sourav and the great sachin. Past retirement of Sachin, Dhoni will lost captaincy to Sehwag or Yuvraj, mark my words. Till the Dhoni will rule as Sachin will guide him to victory with his experience in ODIs and Tests.

HEHE... Munaf patel belongs to Baroda... But he has always played his Ranaji cricket from Maharashtra Team
Ranji Trophy should be scrapped and we should have only 5 Zonal teams which will be stronger and test players with better quality players. North, South, East, West and Central should play in a round robin League. Then there should be semis, and best of 3 finals. This way, we will have the best talent competing against each other. Higher quality in opposition, will throw up much better, international class of players. Also, it should be made compulsory for ALL Test players to play in this new format.

While Duleep Trophy is a more prestigious tournament, in itself it has become very lopsided in recent years. If you look at last 10 years, 8 out of 10 titles have been won by either North Zone or Central Zone. If that's all you'll play for, you'll drive down morale of others. The usefulness of Ranji is that it helps Zonal selectors to select teams for Duleep Trophy and in its absence there will be no yardstick.
