Uninspiring Kaif
by India on Jan 15, 2009 09:36 PM  | Hide replies

Kaif won the toss on a nuetral venue and chose to field. This cost him and his team dearly. Kaif may hve been given out wrongly but as a captain he was mediocre. He even dropped catches. But Mumbai played boring cricket in the end. Even after having a big lead they did not press for an outright win. Their tail enders wasted precious overs in the end without scoring runs. Shame on Mumbai. They seem to be satisfied by winning on 1st innings lead.

no sporting declaration by Jaffer. disappointing certainly.but with Mumbai it is not very surprising. They always like to ensure the win (on basis of lead) and slowly grind down the opposition

by k krishnan on Jan 15, 2009 07:12 PM

talking of target for UP is meaningless.with this kind of appraoch from a leading team in India, India can never hope to be no 1.

Jaffer did not leave any hope of Victory for UP.
by Tapesh on Jan 15, 2009 05:58 PM  | Hide replies

Jaffer did not leave any hope of Victory for UP. This is not bad, actually very bad. Although UP is not upper than Mumbai, but Jaffer made a rough decision that he did not declare earlier. He knows that on the basis of first Innings lead Mumbai will win the match as well as Trophy record 38 times.

Any captain will do the same thing....
First rule out the all posibilities of opposition win and then declare when there is adequate time to get them all out
