Dark Bear
by Ritwik Bhuyan on Jan 14, 2009 12:18 PM

This guy mendis, )who just reminds me a dirty bear( has taken most of the wickets hiding in his home town within the sub continent.

I don't find any special record of his in places like Australia, England or South Africa.

Basically he rides his luck and perhaps when he peee.ps out of the home, he would actually find what HE FITS for, and that's probably nothing.

Agarkar still holds another World Record
by Judson Daniel on Jan 13, 2009 09:55 PM  | Hide replies

Mendis might have broken Ajit's record, but there's still yet another World record he's holding. And that's the fastest to take 200 wickets and score 1000 runs as well. He has achieved this feat in 133 matches surpassing Shaun Pollock who did this in 137 matches.

So, Agarkar's not totally out....

How about the Ducks Hall of fame, most consecutive ducks, he got that with five ducks in a row..Number One in that even ahead of Walsh. Most likely he will keep that forever.

Breaking Shane Warne's recording of fastest 50 wkts and holding it for almost ten years.
Still holding record for fastest 50 in ODIs for India.
Fastest 200 wkts with 1000 runs.
A unbeaten Test century at Lord's
and all you got saw was his 5 consecutive ducks.

Do you watch CRICKET!

haha, yeah, but i'd look at the positive side of his work. he's worked hard for it. despite the critics - agarkar has earned every wicket, and critics have only been keyboard warriors at most.

He has always been the scapegoat of Indian Cricket. He is always tagged with the term "Inconsistent" where as no Indian bowlers can be termed "Consistent". No one has understood his potential till now. It's not easy for anyone to have stayed in Competitive cricket for more than 10 years and bagging 288 wickets on the way. No one would ever understand....

pathan and agarkar-missed opportunity
by mukesh dhariwal on Jan 13, 2009 03:14 AM

Both Irfan Pathan and Ajit Agarkar are missed opportunity, else they could have been groomed as 'effective' all rounders. both lost identity is being batsmen or bowler. Bad economy rate eclipses their wicket taking capabilities. But a genuine medium/fast pacer with batting skills like Kallis, is need of the hour for India.

mendis is not great
by yeshas kumar on Jan 12, 2009 09:31 PM  | Hide replies

mendis is mostly a tail sweeper
most of the top teams' top order batsmen can play him without any problem now
he is usually brought on when the 5th or 6th wicket falls and then h sweeps the tail
agarkar mostly got top order wickets
in that matter he is still good
i wonder why he wasnt allowed to take 300 wickets
i was really waiting for the momnet when he would do so

he might not be that great - but mendis is still baffling for most cricketers in the world to read. he has troubled all teams that he has played with. he's a spinner while agarkar is a fast bowler - so he is brought in a bit later in the game than agarkar, but def it's not true that he is brought on when 5th or 6th wicket falls.
so give mendis the credit that he deserves
