consolation is tonic of mind so give these young lads chances ok!
by pravin sarode on Jan 12, 2009 10:55 PM

when ishant sharma bowled pointing it was the best delivery of year 2008 at mohali
so i must congractulate B. Kumar to bowl sachin out for duck hats off B. Kumar well done
i am sure the ruthless selectors will not ask B. Kumar wait like ishant to play tests ok
it is high time to select wasim jafar in place of rahul dravid for 1 down position
rather team india must be selective like team australia to rest dravid just as hyden
it is said consolation is tonic of mind so give these young promising lads midas touch!

But why are u keep shying away from captainship and allowing young and tender shoulders to handle that burden. You know it can burn their carriers as sourav's or dravid's. Are you not satisfied with your records? Look at Ponting. Either you stand up or shut up..

Sachin - Great Cricketer but gutless person
by Asha Puthoor on Jan 12, 2009 07:48 PM  | Hide replies

still rembering the lost chennai test match against pakistan, from a very good position he was in form & batting with tail enders, needed less than 40 runs he suddenly got a backpain, instaed of getting a painkiller & finishing the match, he managed to loose his wicket with a terrible unwanted shot.Thats what a great crickter always does.No one can forget lara the way he played against aussies with his last man ( its important to say who is was with- WALSH) almost 10 overs , picking up singles in last balls to win the test.

Last week I got surprised to hear that Smith batted to save a test match with a broken finger.

NO MATCH WINNER
by Yaqoot Mir on Jan 11, 2009 06:41 AM  | Hide replies

Sachin may be statisticaly the best batsmen ever, unfortunately he is not a match winner my list of all round best batsment is as follows:

1. Donald Bradman
2. Vivian Richards
3. David Gower
4. Ricky Ponting
4. Gary Sobers
5. Javed Minadad
6. Zaheer Abbass
7. Sachin Tendulkar
8. Hanif Muhammad
9. Mathew Hayden
10.Mohinder Amarnath
11.Inzimam Ul Haq

Based on skills to win matches for their countries. NOTHING else matters, records and individual feats mean nothing if your country does not win, similary for bowlers and again my criterea is match winners only.

1.Shane Warn
2.Malcolm Marshall
3.Wasim Akram ( and he is the greatest Left armr EVER!)
4.Denis Lilee
5.Kapil Dev
6.Glen Mcgraw
7.Imran Khan
8.Bishen Beidi tied with Chandharasekhar
9.Waqar Yunus
10.Joel Garner
11.Andy Roberts

Ya one failure counts, what about he single handedly bring india into finals after the first two match debacle. India almost lost against nederland he was the saviour in that match too. then again Australia he was only scorer rest all were out for cheap. Against pakistan he single handedly won that match otherwise india would have been out. against england a must win game he was highest scorer.
Were india playing with 10 jokers.

your list does'nt have brian lara so it's a joke. How many matches has inzi won outside his own country, look at his test record in places like australia it's pathetic. Ithink lara is the grtest batsmen of this generation. Your list does'nt have dravid, steve waugh, and ricky ponting ahead of gary sobers? man pls keep this list to yourself.

I don't think there is too much of a difference between the match winning capabilities of a ricky ponting or a mathew hayden or any of the top 6 batsmen of australia. If you look at their records in matches won it'll be pretty much similar. Ricky stands out becoz he has scored more runs, but he has always struggled against quality spinners and pace bowling. Look at the recent melbourne test he got a 100 in the 1'at inng and a 99 in the 2'nd yet australia lost the test so is it ponting's fault? Based on this would you say he is not a match winner just becoz his 100's did'nt fetch australia a win? The truth is he no longer has a grt bowling attack, Ricky now faces a similar situation lara and sachin faced for the most part of their careers( lara later in his career and sachin early in his career) So this theory of number of 100's scored in winning causes to determine the grtest batsmen of all time is ridiculous.

what a joke dude your bowling list does'nt have kumble and murali. How can you leave out kumble and have kapil in the list. Kapil is a grt bowler no doubt but kumble by the sheer weight of his performance is the grtest indian bowler of all time.

sachin the greatest cricketer
by raja on Jan 10, 2009 11:15 PM  | Hide replies

open challenge to all disprove a single point of mine:
1) sachin is the greatest odi match winner 53mom and 13 man of series awards.his second innings average in odis is 42.he is twice worldcups highest rungetter.what u all morons think if according to all of u scoring the winning shot is considered a matchwinning innings then i cant stop admiring ur foolishness.where has his performance dropped in the last 1 yr he has scored more than 1000runs in both forms of the game.just an example in eng out of 7odis india won 3 and in those 3 matches he scored 3 90s.next in aus both finals won because of him.so what is the quesion of dropping him? his average in tournament finals is 43.in the last 15yrs india have won 17matches against aussie out of which sachin has been manofmatch 11 times.so in odis past or present sachin is the best.
all of udont give a generalised statement like sachin is selfish etc.prove it.just because he keeps a defence at 99doesnot mean he is selfish.can u remember a single time in which during second innings while chasing he has wasted deliveries.bloody still his strike rate is 87 much higher than ur selfless lara(str rate of 77.scoring 400 and 375 in drawn games in the last test of a lost series
3)who is a better player than sachin?lara definitely no tell me one single odi tournament lara has won for them.sachin has got minimum of 12.lara has got two great test innings(incomparable 153 and 213 against aussies) sachin has got 155 aginst ausie and 1oo against e

inzamam(worldcup average 17 pathetic performance overseas)
ponting(start countdown now letus see how he starts performing now)
no world cup means not a useless player okay.if only sachin had players like yuvraj dhoni sehwag for the kind of form sachin was we would have amassed so much wins.now all of you praise sehwag.just think the amt of freedom sehwag is given(get out no problem)but for sachin in his days he has to accelerate, stabilise and finish matches.see the problem is we all expect sachin to bat as agressive as sehwag as consistent as ponting as stylish as markwaugh finish like bevan play ondrive like azhar score triple hundred like lara which is not possible.somehow all of u r so prefixed that u search for rare negatives in sachin where as in all others some how only positive features comi in ur mind

lastly will a person from tamilnadu go and watch a match between orissa and andhra at chepauk stadium? and who else is a worthier player than sachin to question this?

good going mr raja. Hope some sense prevails in this forum and people stop talking non-sense abt sachin. somebody told that sachin was a selfish captain, i don't agree with that, i agree that he was a bad captain who had a pathetic team. If sachin's act against NZ was selfish then judging by the same yardstick even dhoni was selfish and he openly admitted( smartly said that it was a team decision) that he was letting gambhir and yuvi to score 100's instead of declaring and going for a win. Now pls come up with an ans mr fff, wtf do you know abt cricket, you are a born cynic of sachin, india had two grt wins this yr one in cb series and the other was the test match win at chennai and in both tendulkar played a major part.
