No need to allow them. Players like KP can switch between left and right and play without a double sided bat. And there are chances for bowlers in that movement. Thats enough. Double sided bats will give advantage to batsmen.
I think these days if most of all spinners can turn in both direction (unlike olden days where doosaras and carrom board balls are unheard of). There is no problem if batsman can hit in both the direction.

batsman also has the option of reverse sweep, so there is no point to give this unfair advantage to the batsman
