by km vb on Jan 04, 2009 06:58 PM

Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev are not only two great Indian captains who brought Bensen&Hedges Cup held in Australia and WORLD CUP -1983 held in England respectively but also have had their individual performances shown for many victories.
Whereas Sachin who stand at No.1 in terms of most runs and century maker in ODI and TEST Matches was not involved in any of major Cup winning tournments or series.
Saurav Ganguly,Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev and Dhoni are deserved to be considered as outstanding Cricketers for INDIA.

-ket as a player and administrator, he has been only one thing in cricket in greatness, its called rent a quote
all aussie players of past and present are great but there is no doubt that past aussie cricketers are jealous of the modern day aussie lot, in other countries, i never see old timers putting their modern day blokes down.aussie old timers put punters band down 3 times a day, though there is no doubt that aussies always call a spade a spade and dont have fakeness and hypocricy like indians
just google to know of neil harvey's quotes, hes a funny man
in india anything happens but the media just picks up 1/100 and makes a story out of it and create a racket ha ha
i am not coming back ever to read anything on this discussion.i have not read any posts.
aussies will be back, dont write them off, they have a population of only 21 million, cricket has to compete with any number of sports in oz and it comes after afl and nrl, yet oz have had so much more success than any other team in history, true champs

moronic ICC
by sreedhar reddy on Jan 02, 2009 08:58 PM  | Hide replies

a game played by less than a dozen countries should not be allowed to have a hall of fame. its high time this stupid ICC spent its energy in spreading the game and making it global instead of giving such stupid recognitions, showing its attitude of being happy in its small world. cricket may soon go extinct if this moronic body ICC keeps governing it

what stupid logic is that?? how many countries play american football, ice hockey and baseball and seriously even Rugby? india alone has one sixth of world population. so y wud a game that is most popular among one sixth population of the world become extinct. going ahead, with IPL we do not even need other nations.

is there ne current player in the list? forget current even recently retired greats are not there. i think they will be inducted in next batch followed by some of the current players like sachin, ponting Murali etc. when u can have above avg achievers like Bedi, Gooch etc there has 2 b donald, mcgrath, pollock, lara, sachin, ponting and above all Shane Warne, Murali and McGrath

"It will provide a means of recognising the historical contribution of past players, officials and even institutions in making cricket what it is today, a great sport with a great spirit," he added.

See, it is about the past players, it is mentioned.

I am not a great fan of sachin, but I dont support stupid slandering, Sachin may not be the best, but he has proved time and again that he will be counted among the best. I was a great fan of dravid, who played some fantastic cricket in the 1999 - 2004 period, he was playing better than sachin, but if you see in the long race, sachin has moved far ahead of him

every player goes through good and bad phases

dravid: 1999-2004
sachin:1994-2003,2007-till now
ganguly:1996-2002,2007-2008

but their achievement cannot be degraded

I have never downplayed Sachin's achievements. But every player has a shelf life. Why every player, every person has a shelf life. Don't we see in office everyday? I just mentioned that he should retire. About Dravid, Dravid made his debut in 1996. Sachin made his debut in 1998-89. Sachin will be completing 20 years in 2009. Where as Dravid is just 12 years into cricket. Its unfair ro compare Sachin & Dravid. Will you compare Sunil Gavaskar & Sachin Tendulkar? Tell me, if you can, who is the best? I cannot because for me both were the best... sorry, both are best. So pls do not compare Sachin & Dravid.
