It was a privilege to watch WI fight that hard. And i hope they keep this good work continued. i even feel had Chris Gayle played a big innings WI even would have won the Match.

if minority cricketers are always harassed then how come we had Zaheer Khan and the Pathan brothers in the team that defeated Lanka? stop your religious fanatism

mr.fakru, are you minor in india today? if you think , then you try to stay outside of india, donot mix religious with the sport,
England made a blunder since they have 281 runs ahead ask westindies to play follow on in 2nd innings may leads to englands victory.England have to play the positive cricket and risk taking ability is missing...

Yes. But Strauss also considered the fact that his bowlers were really exhausted after bowling in extreme heat and humidity in WI 1st innings. Thats why he didn't enforce follow on. But looking back, England could have declared atleast half an hour to 45min earlier so that they could have bowled out WI in 2nd innings.

I think 120 overs are enough to bowled out a team in 4th inning. WI batsman did well here.

Yes, very true. After the fighting win by India in 2001 at Kolkatta, against the world champions, no captain is prepared to enforce follow on, even if they have 300 plus runs.
It feels good to see that the Windies are slowly coming back to the mainstream where they win matches, draw close contests, and are moving back to some position of importance...after almost 10 yrs of slump

Anyhow, I want to see at least 10 teams doing equally good in cricket to draw huge interest among cricket-lovers from all nations. That can happen only if T20 is marketed aggressively. T20 is easy to learn and adopt for the minnow cricket playing teams.
Even with 1 nil down, they didnt declare early...but then i am not surprised. England is always an average team. They will never do very well because they don't take risks. With KP gone as a captain, their risk taking ability is back to where they were. mediocre at best

The old English conseravtive gang will never support an 'outsider' like KP. They are just too conservative.

Agreed England was always a mediocre team. The fact that they never won a world cup or any major tournament proves this fact even more.
As pointed out by Suresh Babu, there should be a rest day in Test Matches (after 2nd or 3rd day), so that teams can take aggressive decisions of enforcing follow-ons.
Re: Rest Day
by f f on Feb 20, 2009 12:04 PM
Also the pitches have to be rerolled on that rest day, so that team batting last won't have disadvantages of pitch-wear-out factors. It should encourage the aggressive team to chase any target imposed on the fourth innings.
On the other hand, if this is going to make it difficult to pick 40 wickets in 5 days, then they can probably give an option for the team to pick a new ball every 50 overs instead of 90 overs.

to pick a new ball every 50 overs instead of 90 overs?????????
I wont agree....i ll favour only swing bowlers and cricke loose its interest..see after 50 overs only ball will reverse swing and spin...thats the reason why white ball is not used in test cricket which has to change after 50 overs...
Re: Re: Re: Rest Day
by f f on Feb 20, 2009 01:07 PM
I said only option. If pitch is totally dead and if only new ball can help bowlers pick wicket (especially non-subcontinent), then this can be an option for fielding captain. On the other hand if the bowlers/captain is confident about retaining the old ball and utilizing reverse swing and spin factors, then they can opt accordingly.
Re: Re: Re: Rest Day
by Anurag Rathore on Feb 20, 2009 01:56 PM
It depends upon captain whether he want to take new ball or not. Captain can continue with old ball.
Re: Rest Day
by Anurag Rathore on Feb 20, 2009 12:07 PM
There should be a reserve day(6th day) where team can comlete all the overs which are vanished by rain or bad light or any other reason.

guys keep all your stupid theories with you. Why do you think it's called test cricket?Cos it tests the players. If you have all those reserve day and ball change shit then it won't remain test cricket. England are a good team and might have won ha it not been for flintoff injury. I really wish to see west indies back in the top 5. We can't forget-they were the unassailables at one point of time.
