Ajay Jadeja was a CROOK . His only fame was that one over strike in the WC match. Apart from that, he was a BIG ZERO, just a playboy who was useless in tests, useless in ODI's and just got into the team due to high connections.

AJadeja was a CROOK. A matchfixer. His only name to fame was that one over where he hit Waqar. Other than that, he was a BIG ZERO , just a empty showpot with just style, but no talent or attitude to perform.

Bevan was acknowledged as one of the top class ODI players (if not the best , during his hey days). In contrast, other than that one over heroics, Jadeja had pretty much nothing to talk about. There are many players like Jadeja who have come and gone.

Dhoni confident......
by Anurag Rathore on Feb 20, 2009 04:12 PM  | Hide replies

At the pre-tour press conference, he remained unflustered when was asked about India’s winless record in New Zealand since 1967-68.

"(Touring any) country places demands on the players. The wickets there can be batsman or bowler friendly and the team has to plan accordingly. When overseas teams come to India they are worried about lack of bounce and plenty of spin (from the wickets). What we are going to do in New Zealand is provide an environment to the players that will encourage them to perform at their best. We will not let ourselves be burdened by thoughts of results — it’s all unnecessary once we do our training and practice sessions well, and take it forward to the matches," he said.
Assess and adapt

He said it was the team’s responsibility to assess conditions and adapt quickly.

"When India plays a tough team at home, they say we are under pressure. And now we are going to New Zealand, people are saying it’s going to be tough. We are going there to play cricket and win the series and it ends with that. It’s never a question of the pressure on the captain and the team.

"We are not driven by the aim to become the No. 1 team; once we play well and win, the rankings will take care of itself," Dhoni said.

Coach Gary Kirsten said: "Obviously, we are going there hoping to win the series. The exciting thing about this Indian team is that there are senior players in the squad who can plan when faced with different conditions. Sometime (the hosts) do prepare wickets to suit them. We have already done a lot of homework, what we need to do is assess the conditions there and focus on preparation and matches."

On Kirsten, Dhoni said: "He doesn’t put the players under pressure and force them to change their natural ways of playing. He helps them adapt to different conditions. That’s what international cricket is all about."

Its early days still
by vathula on Feb 20, 2009 03:12 PM  | Hide replies

It's too early to call on Jadeja. Look at the list....Kaif, Piyush Chawla, VRV Singh, Manoj Tiwari, etc. Even some of the good players like Raina had a bad start, but recovered later. My feel is that he Jadeja will be better in ODI than T20 because, he still can't hit the ball as hard as Yuvraj, Dhoni, Raina or Yusuf.

India need bowling allrounder......
by Anurag Rathore on Feb 20, 2009 02:30 PM  | Hide replies

R.Jadeja should improve his bowling and try to reach at test level standard.
Other promising all-rounders are P.Kumar and I.Pathan. P.Kumar should improve his batting.

Point 1 - You are not the selector to know how good a player is and should not be commenting on whether he should be in the team or not and also whether he should be vice captain or captain. You might have played with him but that does not make you the best judge.
Point 2 - Since when has it become a critrea for a person to be from Gujrat to become eligible to be the captain or the vice captain? I think the only option should be to have the best possible players to be in the team, no matter where they hail from.
Please refrain from making such statements in such forums.

If there is one Gujarathi who can be made captain then it will be Dhirubhai Ambani. I regard Gujarat more for business acumen than for the cricketing skills. voila.

Yuvi Idol?
by halwa singh on Feb 20, 2009 02:19 PM  | Hide replies

He better have someone else as his idol. Although talented Yuvi's focus is something that is still a cause for concern. Ravindra Jadeja can have someone like Rahul Dravid or Dhoni or Kumble as his role model, since they always play for the team and more importantly try and win matches.

The best role models, according to me would be Sir Garifield Sobers, Sir Vivian Richards, Clive Lloyd, Sir Richard Hadlee, Geoferry Boycot, Kapil Dev, E A S Prasanna, Wasim Akram and G R Vishwanath.

He can choose anyone from the list.

Has a long way to go. With T-20 I don't think he can learn basic of cricket. May be he can be economical.
Let see how he progress further.
