All countries paying for not giving importance to IPL
by kuldip nair on Feb 18, 2009 09:08 AM  | Hide replies

All countries are jealous of India's supremacy as main sponsorers in cricket. They tried to force their players from staying away from IPL but they are only having more & more problems financially. West Indies & England dont have tie up with Stanford now. Sri Lankan team doesnt have a permanent sponsor. New Zealand cricket also in crisis & players ready to play anywhere for money. Pakistan losing financially as no team is ready to come there. Only South Africa & Australia are bit stable.

What about the scam which is slowly emerging in which high profile Lalit Modi has some hand? Will this spell doom for IPL/ Or as usual government bail out the fraudster?

Shyama don't label any one with corruption unless you are sure abt it. Modi might not have done anything wrong. If what he says to be believed it is a couple of sponsors who failed to pay towards charity as committed due to which he is being charged and harassed under law. Under his leadership IPL was successful in the past and it would be more successful this year also. Learn to appreciate goodthing in a man.

Lalit Modi has not done any fraud. He committed six crores in charity out of which he paid 4.2 crore. Two of them who promised money dint pay up the remaining which is not his fault. He is being harassed due to the change in political scenario.

Exactly. Though I am not a big fan of Lalit Modi because of his autonomous attitude on ICL but before Lalit Modi came into power RCA was run and managed by Rungtas like their family affairs for more than 30 years!!! The hedging of accounts in India is not something surprising thanks to Raju and co. ( of Satyam) but if proper audit is carried out then more skeletons will come out of cupboard. Moreover it was not mandatory on the part of IPL to donate 6 crore. It was a commendable gesture which is not appreciated. How much has the other party contributed.. who are filing cases.. what is their contribution??
