dravid is 35yrs and this is the last venue it seems. why not our selctors give him a last try for onedays in nz. as seeing the past he is the only experienced man in our team who knows nz well. may be we could have acheived a series victory through hi,."dravid" we admire you as the best technically equiped cricketer india has ever seen.

If Rahul retires after this series, pressure mounts on Sachin Tendulkar in case he wanted to play long
As per my views...I feel that sachin has lost his maestro touch...It is time that he should sit and think about the retirment..I think there are definitely some noises in the board about dropping him...I feel he has lost his sight and does not play those great shots he used to play in his prime...if you see him batting...he bats with great preassure on his shoulders...I am *SURE* he will be a total failure in Newzeland...I guess he never hit a century here and i dont think will ever hit... He looks worried about his test record that ricky Ponting might break it...as an indian i feel that sachin's record should never be broken...but one day ricky with his age in his side will break sachin's record...I feel it is the make or break series for sachin and dravid also...
Please look for the position and the performance in that department. Other skills should be an added advantage but should not be a beanchmark to a player selection . Always Primary skill should take the precidence. 1. Irfan--> Is better batsmen than Balaji but the place team India is looking for 3rd seamer. So Balaji becomes the better choise compare to Irfan given his poor bowling form 2. D.Kartik Over P.Patel--> I'm not sure if Patel improves his WICKETKEEPING skills in recent past but earlier he was a very poor keeper . On that Basis Karthik becomes better choise overPatel. (Though I think Kartik is also an average keeper) 3. Dhaval Kulkarni--> New seamer over RP and Sreeshanth. RP is not bowling well and Sreeshanth fitness is a question mark. Chosing New player over them is always a good decision. Cheers for Team India and lets hope for better performance
Indian selectors specially Srikant is an ediot............Irfan is such a good seamer and specially in Newzealand where he would have swing the ball like Wasim Akram..........He bez from south zone thats the reason he promoted that good for nothing seamer Balaji...........Why is RPsingh or Srisanth not in team..........why a rookie from Mumbai preferred in front of these guys..It sucks

kris is not an ediot brb. but he gave chances for few who he think has got potentials. as you pointed nz picthes r good for swing bowlers. irfan is good swing bowler but the fact is he is not in good form and may be if he regains his form in t20, kris would realise his mistake.

When did Irfan swung the ball last time? Before Greg Chappel started treating him as Alrounder. So stop this thinking that he is Wasim Akram. He needs to get back his swing to get a place in India. RP is not bowling well also. Sreeshant is having Fitness problem. And what is the problem in giving an Youngster chance. If that doesn't happen how can you test new talent. So don't think emotional. The decision by selectors is perfectly al right and the onus is now on Balaji and mummai bowler to prove themselves.

The biggest "IDIOT IS YOU" & are you Blind as well IRFAN SWINGING & SEAMING THE BALL LIKE WASIM AKRAM if he can do 10% of what WASIM AKRAM DID HE WILL BE THE No:1 bowler in INDIA.At least the selectors from the South take care of players from the south where as the selector from the North is just happy to be in the Selection Commitee. fdgffgh get some shock treatment & you may get better in your views.
You cannot compare L Balaji and Irfan pathan. Balaji has got variations than Irfan and got the endurance during test matches. Main problem with irfan is he loses his pace if he goes for the longer spells and he is not good during the longer spells. Balaji on the other hand always good during the longer spells. Just check how many overs he bowled during this Ranji season, that too in the hot indian condition, that too I season after injury. The Logic for picking Dawal kulkarni and L Balaji is they are work horses. They dont mind bowling 15-20 overs at a stretch. Dont show the statistics. Thats not going to take anywhere. Irfan never had endurance, he is good in onedayers and T20 for his batting skills.

U r right,You cannot compare L Balaji and Irfan pathan.rfan is thousand times better batsman than Balaji.Weather it's a test match or oneday , he has always impressed everyone with his batting skills.

When selector are selecting the Bowlers for the Team they are looking for guys who can Bowl out the opposing team twice in 5 days & they do not take into account the Batting Skills of the Bowler.Hope you can get the point now.
Re: Re: To Mr Rajneesh

DO not choose people for wrong reasons. We need 3rd seamer and with current form Balaji is definitely better than Irfan as a bowler. When Irfan starts swinging the ball he becomes obviously the first choice.

Sam Actually noone compared Balaji and Irfan on their batting skill. Even i didnt say that. The point is We have a potent striking attack(atleast on paper, proven in the last two series atlast) in Ishant and Zaheer. To make sure they are effective, we need a third bowler, who needs to be a workhorse. In that case munaf, Balaji and Dawal are excellent choices. Balaji' pace will comeback eventually once he regains his rhythm, confidence.

To further your claim, I would say Rhythm is required in fast bowling. Irfan was compared to Akram after the fourth test. Now we can compare him to Sunil Joshi. He bowls left arm spin these days and most of them are half trackers. Thats why, he is fit for 20/20. He can bowl a bit, bat a bit. If you point to these statistics, I would point to Agarkar statistics. He has better now and probably oneof the rarest cricketers in India like Kambli who did not justify their talent.

You guys want to imply that Balaji balls at 140 km/hr..........Irfan is most talented guy then any player......Irfan always ball in 130 range like Balaji and the way he swings is unmatchable........You talk abt endurance of that guy who got such big injury.........Irfan would have added so much strength in balling, batting and fielding........Let time come and I promise you Irfan would be in team and Balaji would be sitting doing commentary

pathan is now low on confidence and also he has not performed in ranji matches this season hence lbalaji who is more comsisitent is selected u north fellow understend this fact

guys, both the players are talented. Irfan is having tough time and he a good cricketer.never forget last ty/20, it will take little time to establish himself. hopefully, he gets his rythm and perform his best for our country.we need younger players like him for the future. wereas balaji is in winding stage. may be this will be his last tour.
Re: l.balaji inclusion in the test squad
by vasutty on Feb 17, 2009 11:29 PM
Balaji is not pacer any more. He is dibbly dobbly wibbly wobbly bowler like Gavin Larzan. He got selected b'cos of sricunt
Ok guys Balaji's Inclusion though not entirely a great one, still isnt bad Last season he stood fourth after Dhawal, Jadeja, and Parmar. He was the second best pacer after Dhawal so he is in, his record was 36 wickets from 7 matches @17 avg, So no regionalism atleast in case of Balaji p.s:Am not from TN
Balaji was not dropped by the management he was injured, so does Sreesanth, he bowled well in CB series Final, and bowled very well in IPL, but he got a slap from Baji as the reward, now BCCI has slapped him again by not including Sri in the team. Including an inferior quality bowler like Balaji instead of talented and fast Srisanth or RP Singh Chikka has started showing his regional bias.
Re: Sreesanth Vs Balaji
by Larry Francis on Feb 21, 2009 11:25 AM
Sreesanth should be thank full he only got slapped by BCCI HE ACTUALLY SHOULD HAVE GOT A NICE KICK ON HIS BACKSIDE FOR NOT MAINTAINING HIS FITNESS.Inferior quality bowlers do not claim wickets & if Chikka is showing his REGIONAL BIAS than BADRINATH WOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE TEAM.
Before Mr Chapple became coach of Indian Cricket team, Irfan was doing very well as a bowler and was improving by the day, finally India had a strike bowler. (even the gr8 wasim akram praised him & wanted to train him further, looking at his potential). Comes in BCCI who was aginst a pakistani coaching an indian bowler & Mr Chappel who forced irfan to concentrate more on his batting than bowling as he wanted a genuine all-rounder in the team, so rather than picking an allrounder from domestic circuit or develop existing batsmen who could bowl (ganguly, sehwag, yuvi etc) Mr Chapple forced irfan to bat and not concenrating on his bowling after his long injury layoff.. Irfan wold have been gr8 as a bowling allrounder, but ended up as neither a proper batsmen or a bowler. When he started his international career (still a teenager) he was bowling contineously 140 kmp and was swinging the bowl furiously. but now he is in his early twenties and just manages 125 kmp without any swing and doesnt have good line and lenght anymore... SHAME ON BCCI & Mr Chapple an agent from CA who was successful in destroying the indian team just before the worldcup with his political & mindgames, so that AUS goes unchallenged in the World Cup.
SHAME ON BCCI & Mr CHAPPEL,,,, they succesfully destroyed one of the emearging jewl of Indian Cricket. God be with irfan, and give him his skill and pace back.

by Larry Francis on Feb 21, 2009 11:33 AM
SHAME ON IRFAN FOR NOT JUSTIFYING HIS TALENT,do not blame anyone for coaching him if he has got the WILL POWER TO DO SOME THING HE WILL DO IT & NO ONE IS THERE TO BLAME IT ON.YOU CAN ONLY BECOME WHAT YOU WANT TO BE THROUGH YOUR OWN EFFORT & NOT BLAMING OTHER PEOPLE FOR DESTROYING YOU.

Spot On.. I wish he gets his swing back and we can see the same destructive bowler in near future.
Re: Its Simple: because of Greg Chappel & BCCI

Greg Chapel, mind you, has left only one organization in tact, his house. He didnot even spare CA. What you say is looking so much like an imaginary story. Pathan jr was dropped because he cannot bowl on NZ Pitches. We need a consistent 120 who can swing both ways. Pathan forgetten swing, pace and perhaps fast bowling.
