rohit doesn't value his wicket..even his recent 100 in ranji was all but fluke..he got 2-3 chances...bloke still kept repeating mistakes..but it was just his day

RAmesh powar is the best indian spinner at this time
by Advait Chandsarkar on Feb 10, 2009 12:01 AM  | Hide replies

RAmesh powar is the best indian spinner at this time. No one is better spinner than him today in india but all people likes glammer not cricket and skills. I think if ramesh powar had selescted for WC2007 we had easily won our group matches and qualified for super 6 but partiallity affected us. Harbhajan and Kumble got many chances after numerous failures but Powar was dropped from Team india without any reason. when india won 18 straight matches chasing the targets, there was lion share of Powar for restricting targets by taking wickets in mid overs. I feel very sad for him.

please do comment on this----

looks like his stocky hefty built didn't help his cause...giving the impression his fielding could be a problem..

i agree he was good...he got dropped just based on 1-2 bad games

I do agree that Powar is very good spinner. and i want to suggest that even if he is fat but his DEDICATION in fielding and batting is also very good. surely he was unlucky in wc-2007. but past is past, at this point he is surely better that amit mishra and pragyan oza. He should get another chance.

When will poor Badri get his chance?
by Evil Soul on Feb 09, 2009 11:31 PM

When will poor Badri get his chance? After topping the batting charts in 2006 and 2007 seasons, he was not in the team. When his averages dropped by to a lil above 50s, he was taken in the team and put on the bench for more than 7 months. Then, he was given a place in the team as Sachin's replacement after he voiced his displeasure. He helped India win the match in which he debuted when the whole indian line-up collapsed against the deadly duo of Mendis and Mruali. Then he flops in a match and is kicked out. Now, he is out of the squad. Great selection policies. For those who want to cotend against me, please refer to Badri's stats on cricinfo for this duleep and ranji season. Duleep - he is on the top of the score cards. In ranji, he missed 5 matches. But, going by his scores, he tops the charts trailing only to Laxman (he played only one match if im right).

Ramesh Powar
by VISHVAS NAVARE on Feb 09, 2009 10:48 PM

Powar is, was & will be always a great asset to any team. His modest background has made him a tough fighter in life and on the field. His quality as a spinner earned him rich praise from international critics & ex international chapion players alike when he played for India.Yet some people in India can only see his shape & size & adversely assume about his fielding.Time that they give him his dues- Vishvas

Rahul dravid
by babihydy on Feb 09, 2009 05:23 PM  | Hide replies

Now he should hang up his boots gracefully. i 've my full respects for him for all that he has done for team india. And all Indians will be proud of him and will say that once they had the best ever batsman in him.
It is not that he lost his class or touch. After being removed or resigning , he had the worst time of his life. And mentally he is not 100 percent fit. And secondly he doesnot have good rapport with dhoni.
So he should call it a day before he is humilliated by Dhoni and the selectors by not picking him up.
Rahul batsman like you take birth once in million years. Dont feel bad. You have other jobs to do. Groom youngsters and even if you make one of them to match you....it will be like you lived twice in one life.

Its time to include Badrinath in place of Rahul Dravid. Defenitely Badrinath is very very confident player and an excellent player.
He will be a very good No.3 for India in the future. No question about that. Let Srikanth put Badrinath in that place of Rahul Dravid.
Following should be Indian team for Tests
Sewhag, Gambhir, Badrinath, Sachin, Laxman, Yuvraj, Dhoni, Harbhajan, Murali Karthik ( Amit Mishra), Zaheer, Ishanth Sharma.

you have not seen Cheteshwar Pujara batting!
Going by couple of matches wil not justify anything statistically.

Anand Acharya, pujara is a good batsman. But badrinath is not judged from couple of matches. He has played for 4/5 seasons of domestic cricket and he has performed well consistenly. And he is not being given chance. And we hope that he can perform well for india as he is a real good cricketer.

i still have reservations about yuvi in test.
he can bat only in one gear.

i am not suggesting test cricket is about batting slowly, its about playing percentage cricketing shots with less risks and playing ball as per its merrit.

Also yuvi is still a suspect against quality swing bowling and spinners.
Dont give me recent lanka odi example...its different playing mendis/murli for 5-6 overs comapred to 20-25 in tests.

instead of yuvi ...i did prefer Badrinath, pujara or even Ajinkya rahane.

Yuvi is the best T-20 player and arugauble amongs the toip in ODI...why do we want him to be great in everything?

Shut up ! U all are mad people. When he fails in 2 or 3 innings, you all start shouting. He is a class player, having scored 10,000 runs in both versions of the game, an excellent slip fielder and patient chap. Are you his close friend saying that he is not mentally fit. Instead of pulling his hairs, back him and support him !

On criticism of his captaincy, Rahul Dravid said that, the shelf life of an Indian Captain is getting shorter and shorter. He should now say the same about Indian cricketers, in general, as well. Because, in his last 3 matches prior to this match he had scored centuries (Ranji trophy vs Saurashtra, Duleep Trophy vs Central zone & North zone. He gets out, clean bowled, to a ball which did not get up above his shoes, and lo and behold, there are people calling him to quit. The shelf life is not even one match, but just the last inning.
