dhoni's batting...
by Jimmy Thomas on Feb 07, 2009 03:10 AM

Hey guys, yesterday i was happy to see dhoni promoting himself to 1st down and scoring those runs. just a day before i was involded in a heated discussion abt dhoni's waning batting skills. but before we start, let me say that he deserves all the praises and accolades coming his way, purely bcoz of the statistics as captain and also his contributions. he indeed is really cool and calm under pressure and delivers and gets india over the line. Now the point i want ur inputs is entirely different. its abt dhoni's decreasing ability to hit boudaries specifically 4's. even though he almost scored run a ball again i found he was not hitting enoung 4's as his innings progressed. u could see how gambhir was easily finding the boundaries once he started attacking. ( dhoni hit 2 flat sixes, they were impressive ) but when u compare the old dhoni, when he used to hit so many boundaries for example in an innings of 50 he would hv atleast 6,7 fours. Now he hits 4,5 fours in a 100 on an average basis. can u guys tell me why is this happening? please don't give me reasons like, he is the captain, more responsibility and all that...just give me some views on pure batting perspective. is it mental or is he loosing his boundary hitting abilities? or is it just that he wants to play like this, which he finds comfortable.? comments please...

If Sachin Plays 4th ODI-Dhoni one down option will not arise
by km vb on Feb 06, 2009 02:03 PM  | Hide replies

if sachin plas 4th ODI - Dhoni one down option will not arise.Like wise many options INDIA will miss if he continue to play.Sachin trying to accommodate to play himself till 2011 world cup and by doing so , he is making many youngsters to miss a chance and also spoiling the combination of Sehwag and Gambir Opening with Suresh Raina at one down and occasionally Dhoni at one down.
Sachin feels he has many runs backing for his place but at the same time he is aware
1) His reflexes are diminished
2) His Eye contact to ball also diminished
3) His Foot movement as like his younger days
diminished
4) Also Sachin is aware and feels guilty of
spoiling youngster chance by continuing
himself in team for the sake playing to his
own desire to be a member for winning team
of world cup and also to avoid zero of his
last innnings in world cup.
Sachin a big think tank for himself whether to continue or to retire.

KM VB

U do not even have guts to disclose your name. Your mind is shabby and it is also refelected in your message. So called youngsters will score only on flat sub-continent wickets. They start dancing on lively, seaming wickets in England, Sa, Australia and NZ. Let us watch and see how pathetically Yuvi, Dhoni, Raina fare in NZ. Only sachin, Sehwag and to some exyent Gambhir will score in NZ.

Hello,
How you forgot 1st 20-20 which was played in South Africa in which team Sachin/Dravid/Saurav Ganguly not played but Dhoni with all the above youngsters played and won it.
Sachin was during his younger days but now it appears like his cricketing days are over.
If he force to play, the result will be the same as every Indian saw in three ODI.instead of blaming at Umpire, why sachin could not contact such delivery for three continuously ODi which Umpire had to lift his finger.in case no replay system,it would be difficult to judge.
We need to groom youngsters for future as like sachin was came at younger age and played for so long.

sachin is not too invincible. The question is whether he retire with honour as Jumbo or with disgrace as ... better to spill not contraversy lol. He score but he is not a cupwinner with a few exception thats why he could not get place in ICC Top ranking.

Batting Concerns
by chacko v on Feb 06, 2009 02:00 PM  | Hide replies

First, Though we have batted well in this series against Sri Lanka, I am still concerned. I am unable to see a steady batsman at no.3 and this position is very crucial especially when we play overseas.

Second, I think our bowling attach would be best served with Zaheer & Ishan opening. We have still not got our slog over specialists in place.

Your thoughts seem to be the most thoughtful. But see! No comments of agreement or disagreement on your post! Everybody here is hell bent on proving if sachin is done and over with OR even dhoni is selfish & incapable! What has happened to our country people! Huh!

India win of 4th ODA
by kvs sastri on Feb 06, 2009 01:22 PM  | Hide replies

Let this win not go to the head of sri MS dhoni. Let him take to his heart. Winning is good. But this should never go to head of the persons responsible for this. This is a caution to all the persons concerened.

Sastri is worried that Dhoni's success will go to Sastri's head! heh heh he....

Don't read his comments yaar! Let Sastri first think and analyze whether the T20 World Cup win went to Dhoni's head?! Whether being the top rated ICC batsman made him think that he is the best batsman?! Why do these people write comments about things they do not even understand?!

Before facind India Kulasekra, Murali and Mendis were also in great touch.

ODI bowling ranking:
Kulasekra - 2
Murali - 4
K.Mills - 5

India is unstoppable nowadays. India will win both series in NZ.

And don't forget! We too have Zaheer & Ishant who will be able to utilize the Kiwi conditions to our benefit.

Remember how Dale Styn got shaped up?! Or Ajantha Mendis?? I am hopeful!

Is this your wish Tapesh?! I agree it was a pathetic site during their last visit to Kiwiland BUT we all should hope things would improve!

Kiwis were always a nemesis of their trans-tasman rivals Australia. Always!! So let us not dwell too much on anything! Not even in India's success, neither in Mills success. I hope Dhoni and his dhurandhars will be able to teach a thing or two to the Kiwis as well. Now they are the number two team!
