pak must win
by VancouverPunekar on Dec 30, 2009 02:57 AM  | Hide replies

1. That will ensure aussies slip down further in the test rankings
2. teach ponting a lesson for declaring so early...
i dont think it was because of over confidence.
It may be becasue he probably himself wanted to bat again and score that 100 which has eluded him since long time...

Vancouver:

1. If Australia are indeed bad enough to slip down the rankings, Pak will surely beat them. It is not the other way round as you are WISHING. :)
2. If Ponting declared earlier than required, Pakistan will surely win. Do we need an "expert" to tell us that?
If he wanted to bat again, he could have batted again even if Australia had a 350 run lead. Imposing follow-on is NOT Mohammad Yousuf's decision. It is Ponting's.

Finally, please spare us your "cricketing" knowledge... ;-)

What "should" happen and what "will" happen aren't necessarily the same things. :)

India "should" have won the Kotla ODI. Did we? :)

Match Fixing
by lookisay on Dec 29, 2009 08:46 PM  | Hide replies

Are Australia and Pakistan fixing the result of this match? Why would Ponting declare with a losing target?
We all know that Aussies run behind money from the IPL episode. Paradoxically they only want to make money themselves but are jealous of others (especially Indian cricketers)making money out of IPL. This can be seen by every Aussie worth a salt discrediting IPL at every given instance.
Pakistanis, well nobody needs any proof to show to what extent they would go for few pennies.. isn't it :)

I do think this match is played for some very handsome gains for both the teams.

Team who is finishing year on TOP will never loose first match of series which is postponed (earlier fixed to be played in Pakistan). Australia knows the capability of two/three good batsman of Pakistan and defending 422 would never be difficult. No point playing for 9th and 10th wicket and score additional 30/40 runs by wasting 1 hour and get the bowlers tired. Why wasting one hour for 30/40 runs and increase possibility of draw.

After seeing the pre-lunch session today, you must really keep quiet, instead of shouting out your miniscule and negligible "cricketing" knowledge on the forum. :)

If the match is won by Aussies - Both Aussies and Pakis fixed the match... :)

If the match is won by Pakis - Both Aussies and Pakis fixed the match... :)

If the match is drawn - Both Aussies and Pakis fixed the match.. :)

We now know your "cricketing" knowledge. :)

BTW, since when did 422 runs become a "losing target"??? :)

Have our national heroes in blue regularly touched 450 runs in 4th innings to win test matches??? :)

Why should I think with prejudice or bias? :)

You are doing quite fine - thinking with all the prejudice and bias enough to last the whole forum. :)

BTW, Australia won the match handsomely, so you can take all your "Australia fixed the match" theories, roll them up and shove them you know where. :)

After watching today's pre-lunch session, you surely would agree that Australia is one of the strongest teams in the test format today. :)

They can easily pick up wickets when they "want" to.... :)
