Useless/Stupid comment by Mr Shridhar.
Money is paid by the common man for their entertainment.
BCCI is not picking common man from their house who dont want to see cricket.
Ulta, more jobs introduced while conducting such tournaments for common man.

To stop it simply stop watching IPL. The main buck comes from TV endorsement.

Ban IPL
by Charly Brown on Dec 28, 2009 02:28 PM  | Hide replies

If IPL is killing the traditional forms of cricket and taking away talents from state and national duty, ICC should mend ways and rules to BAN IPL or even make mandatory to make players play a minimum no. of matches at the state or national level. IPL is not the be and end all of cricket. But Test or One day is.

Well, richer boards like Eng, Aus and SA can place some restrictions on their players but poorer boards like SL, WI and NZ will be powerless as their remunerations are less and if they place restrictions, players will revolt.

golden goose will get killed
by VEENAY KAMTTIKARR on Dec 28, 2009 02:15 PM

Cricket has become the golden goose in the hands of the BCCI.

Sooner than later , Cricket will become a dead game due to BCCI's attitude of " Too much (for us) is not Too Much (for fans)"

Criket RIP

CRICKET?!!!!!!!!!!!!
by RKG on Dec 28, 2009 01:02 PM

I think now it has come time for the game of cricket to either change attituide players thinking about playing at such an elite lvl or don't play at all meaning should only concentrate of long formats/forms such as test/onedayers intls

And if they want to play whatever that short version of the stupid nonsense disriputing name of the game then they should be kicked out

cheers

Arogance of IPL
by krishnan ramachandran on Dec 28, 2009 12:05 PM

Whbatever the IPL and T-20 do, test cricket will alone survive in the long run and the "number game" will fade after some times.

Incorrect
by Mihir Kamdar on Dec 28, 2009 12:04 PM

i don't understand what the big deal is. a cricketer has a limited shelf life. he has to maximise his earnings so that he does not have trouble in the future. if the cricket board of any country does not pay well, they better accept the fact that cricketers will have to leave. its surprising that people keep making comments against ipl, odi's etc. the money is great and most people on this board would not think twice about not playing for the country if they can secure their future.

I think this statement is not true, Even if a cicketer gets lot of money he still will feel honoured to play for his natinal side. The solotion is that IPL must be held every 2nd year instead of every year.

Comparing public sector and pvt sector in India
by Ram on Dec 28, 2009 11:48 AM

Same is happenning. Because of the cash that IT companies are offering compared to govt organizations like DRDO, BARC etc, people prefer IT comapanies as the cash paid is not comparable. Though people can still say that they are working in India and earing forex for the country - Same goes with the black caps as well. Do you know one of their great fast bowler - Evan Chatfield is a taxi driver now?
