I.Pathan.....

India need a bowling allronder. R.Jadeja is good when India play with 1 specialist spinner. But India is also needed I.Pathan so that 2 specialist spinners can play at same time in the side. Irfan can balance the side.

It will take about 20-25 ODIs for Jadeja to emerge
by Nikhil Shah on Dec 23, 2009 01:36 AM  | Hide replies

So far in his 12th ODI he seems to have a fairly stable batting average. 33.50 with S/R=75. For an allrounder he is within range of Irfan and even better some of the specialist batsmen like Rohit Sharma and WK-batsmen like Karthik. His bowling numbers need to improve. Typically he should hit an average of 33-35 with an eco rate of 4.6. Bowling in India on flat tracks with the batsmen in full flow causes a problem for him and does not allow him to settle into a rythm. But he should be a better bowler than the part-timers and if one of the seamers have an off day, he can pick up the slack instead of the part-timers.

right. he shud b bowl for taking wkts. n he needs to sharpen his batting with the help of seniors in the team to put some aggression in it. n he is the most agile fielder in the team.

A new star

Yes, Dhoni deserves some credit for persisiting with him despite no great performance and a lot of criticism. That is how a captain nurtures a new player.

true. even players like dravid were super flop during his initial stages. it was azhar who persisted with dravid to blossom into a good batsman.
