I've never seen such a talented player like him..His cover drive sixes..OMG..others can only dream of it..another great thing about him is that he's a human being with weaknesses which he could'nt suppress or do it secretly as some 'Gods' normally do... I will certainly miss him..six sixes in an over and 175 while chasing 434...(NB: it was for a winning cause..u r great mr gibbs...live long without supressing and hiding or faking ur individuality..
It`s RSA only cricket board that can do it.south african board already do that same thing with lans klusaner.Plz someone tell RSA cheif otherwise its a ending of a great player...

Gibbs averaging around 37 in ODI , that not bad for an attacking player like him or sehwag. when ever gibbs hit 50 SA more often easly winning that much. SA normally build from gud starts . so its very important for them to play Gibbs .

Gibbs has certainly achieved more than Sehwag as an ODI opener. More 100s (21 v 11), better ave (37 v 34) and a bigger match winner. SA need to understand that they need Gibbs if they want to win WC 2011.

It is in second innings. Please go and look at stats.
Gibbs facing the same cheap politics that ganguly had to face.
He played well against Australia in both home and away series incl one superb 100. and the result SA won both series 4-1 and 3-2 . he is an excellant fielder too.
It was sad to see him sitting in reserve bunch and watcing his team mates playing with England. and the result SA lost series 2-1. then without giving him a chance to play SA droped him from team . its same kind of cheap politics ganguly faced.
boh ganguly and gibbs are world class players and cannt replace

smith is playing politics. he wants amla.. out of form gibs is 100 imes better than amla. smith also played politics with lance klusner resulting in his premature retirement.

Gibbs and Ganguly are comparable becaiuse they both got a raw deal from selectors/coach. However, they are not comparable when it comes to fielding..............

both Gibbs and ganguly were alone match winners , good openrs, big six hitters , more oftn able to score big 100s and most most importantly MATCH WINNERS.

Can you tell when Ganguly dropped a easy catch. Did you watch Ganguly catching Saeed Anwar on 194 in Chennai. How many fielders in India can take that catch? Sourav is a good fielder not great. India never lost matches due to his fielding rather India won due to his batting and bowling.

saurav catching was good but his ground fielding has cost more than 1000 runs in odi and 1700 runs in test matches
i still remember his 175 knock against Aus and SA chasing 430. i watched it live. it was mind blowing. but since he is not in form, he can can back in form and retire after wc 2011. players like him need big occassion.
