Umpires job is to make the right decision without any bias or misuse of the power, techonology is a frnd of umpire helping them to give more accurate decision...only corrupted umpires worry abt pride, power..this idiot doesnt think of the game..he is talking abt pride...who remembers dickie bird..
Dickie speaks from his perspective (as an honest unbiased man) .... however go back in time, don't we (Indians) think umpires like Bucknor & Silva are biased against India and give many wrong decisions to Tendulkar ..... well , keep a URS in place ... Pls remember a team can keep using the URS as many times as possible , but 3 wrong calls and no more URS are allowed. Hence no umpire can openly cheat against any team and no team can slow down the game with continous URS calls. The only 3 changes I would like is that (1) After every unsuccessful URS, the team should be dis-allowed to call for another URS for the next one hour (2) If a team calls for 3 unsuccessful URS's in a row (in the same match) then it should be banned from using the URS for the next match (3) If a team has more unsuccessful URS than successful URS, then it should be penalised 10% of match fees. This will deter rampant use (or misuse) of URS by captains, but still be available to check the umpires.

Before the technology adaptation in cricket, we have seen many erroneous decisions by Umpires. In that era we were discussing these issues in each mach. but still there are lot of misunderstanding and confusion while taking decision on LBW’s. Still we see Umpires taking sudden decisions on LBW (after 1 or two appeals on a particular batsman!) though they are not technically out. There by the technology has to be immediately adapted in this area also. Let everything be in an error free way especially human error!...No umpire will loose their Job, their respect.
If anyone opposes it I'll ask a question. Why do we need computers, vehicles, etc etc ?
If we compare ourselves with our ancestors didn't they live without these things ? Y can't we ?
This is nonsense. When we have a option/Technology we should use it if it is helpful to us. It is the player/team who works hard & is at loss by suffering a wrong DECISION of UMPIRE .
Dickie is quite right. Football has shown the way by doing away with electronic aids and taking the referee and linesman's word as final. All over the country where boys play cricket on the grounds, the umpire's word is taken for final, even if he is from the opposite team, which is often the case. This is a game meant for mature men. Playing it in the right spirit makes a man out of a whiny namby pamby boy. Let not let a mans game be taken over by geeks, gadget freaks and mammon worshippers.

Yes, thats why we get incidents such as the recent Thiery Henry handball incident and not to mention the the numerous death threats to the football refrees.
