South Africa is just 2 points below India and they are going to play a huge test series.. Also India doesnot have many test series till WC'10..
this rank will be short-lived

Absolutely. This will be shortlived and has no significance at all.

And everyone knows the performance of Team India in other forms of cricket - they collapse when there is a competition. WC 2007, T20 WC 2009 and ICC CT 2009 are perfect examples that Team India does not have temperament to make it big in tournaments. They were first round crashers in tournaments.

Dont forget Kumble & Ganguli
by Hari Menon on Dec 06, 2009 10:16 PM  | Hide replies

Lets not forget the contributions of mighty Kumble & the best captain of India Saurav Dada without whom this No 1 would have never been posible... Also all fuss about Sehwag is okay, but what about Dravid?? He is also scored 400 plus runs in this series!

Why crib over this? They both play for the same team and the team has won.
You call it Fuss, the rate at which Sehwag scored in the 2nd and 3rd test was amazing- he deserve a special applause. Still no doubt Rahul Dravid is as impotant and would have his moment of shine and glory soon. But learn to be appriciative rather than just being a hero worshipper.

If Dravid would have made 293 in Mumbai test instead of Sehwag, the test must have resulted in draw.
Drravid's strike rte in one day's is less than Sehwag's strike rate.

I agree, infact Sehwag's strike rate in test would be much better than Dravid's ODI's,Anyway boh have different role to play. Tha's why Dravid is called "Wall" of Indian battign line up. Keep up dear Dravid

Dravid saved us the first test and from going down 1-0 in the series opener. But then he is expected to do that and that is why he is called 'The Wall'

Did bowlers let down Srilanka?
by kamalakannan chakkarapani on Dec 06, 2009 09:55 PM

It is also a contributing factor that bowlers didnot do well. But it is unfair on part of batting line up as well as no great partnership between the srilankan batsman.
They were outclassed in all fields by the Indian batting and bowling attack.
