this not true. it is difficult to win matches on flat tracks. look at the stats of 2003 india in Aus, you will see india's previous highest test score there. India drew the series and would have won if Parthiv patel had not missed 5-6 chnaces in last match that also of waugh and katich who saved the match. look when we toured Aus last time we won test in perth and would have won the series also if there weren't record bad decisions in that series. we won in new zealand, Eng and won a test in SA. I don't know why are you so critical of indian team?? I truly believe most of the time best indian players play in international team as we can see from domestic players list that no ranji player has achieved better in domestic cricket what most of indian players have achieved in international cricket.
I do not think so. Winning on flat pitches means nothing to a true cricketer lovers.
Instead of feeling good and satisfied, I feel sad that BCCI is killing test mercilessly. I have been watching cricket for long time, but never I have seen a series with such huge scores--600 or 700 runs.
On flat pitches, one does not need technique but the brute power to scoring tons of runs.
What is the point of playing cricket on such pitches, why not play baseball?
Being Ranked#1 does not necessarily means #1 team in reality. This is true for Indian Team.

Was it true for Aus when they were ranked #1 for many many years?
I am sure they will soon regain it. Only foolish Indian fan can forget the thrashing received from Aus last month by these hollow wins against Srilankans.

I dont agree with that. If run scoring was easy, then Srilanka also should have scored 700 runs in both innings right? India had outplayed Srialnka in this series. India deserves the number 1 ranking after series victories in England, Newzealand, West Indies. This team has won matches at home and away also.
But, I dont think we are the best test team now. I would say we are one of the best test teams. Australia and South Africa are not the dominant forces any more.

senthil JEGADEESAN,
Srilankan opener--Dilshan got very poor decision in both the innings of this match, which changed the course of the match, otherwise this test would also have ended in draw.
If these are not flat pitches, what these are--sportive wickets.
It is wrong to conclude the pitch is not flat just because SRL could not score same amount of runs on this pitch. You remember they got poor decisions against a batsman who is in form of his life--Dilshan.

Sachin is a Legend it will be foolish ness to give him rest he shud play as much as he can.We want more centuries and records frm him congratts INDIA HIP HIP HURREY!!
INdia has won number 1 crown. but this is the time when selectors need to realize that there will be a very big loophole in the Indian Test Batting lineup after one or two years. Keeping this in mind selectors needs to take some tough decisions. Selectors have to make a pool of 7 to 8 promising batsmen for the Indian test batting lineup. Selectors should give some international exposure to the emerging batsmen. In Jan 2010, India have to play a test series against Bangladesh in Bangladesh. It is a very big opportunity to check the ability of the new batsmen. I think selectors should rest Sachin & laxman for that test series & try new batsmen in the middle order. they can select: Badrinath Pujara Rohit sharma Manish Pandey M Vijay Ajinkya rahane

Yes you are right. They should try these guys instead of yuvraj. Yuvraj is not fit for test cricket. Cos he is very poor at spin bowling and he needs more patience. Rohit sharma/ also not fit for test match.
