Wishing virendra sehwag
by avinash on Dec 04, 2009 08:32 AM

virendra sehwag is on the verge of becoming the first batsman to score 300 or more runs Thrice it is not often batsman get to the position where he is in" I WISH HIM ALL THE BEST FOR THE MOMENT"and hope he becomes the first batsman to do so and offcourse he is the first indian to score a triple century. Indian batsman will have to bat well to gain a substantial lead in this match. but opener sehwag and M vijay have given india a oppurtunity.

One of the Best in the World today!
by Amit Kalyanpur on Dec 04, 2009 08:03 AM

He is one of the MOST DESTRUCTIVE BATSMEN in cricket today! He may not have the best technique or temperament, but he is very very effective as a batsman can annihiate any attack in the world! Great knock Sehwag!

Joke and Pity
by bomber on Dec 04, 2009 07:02 AM  | Hide replies

First the joke..media on tv and everywhere is going gaga on sehwag's triple and lara record, why we indians are obsessed with individual records nobody knows, once in the 2 hr galmour program have they mentioned how india could win this test and what they need to do or that india is going to be no.1 -- isn't that what you should focus more on?

and now for why I pity -- look at andyroddick, federer, tigerwoods, imran and other great sportsmen -- do you see what they all have? no you don't -- they all have their charity foundations, woods foundation, andyroddick foundation and they use their fame to do sooo much good to the society. Think about how many lives they can improve for poor India. What do cricketers like sachin do? Pity...may be they do some charity but if you are sachin and a bit more proactive with a foundation and come out open with it, imagine how much good it will do to the society. All fans will contribute to the foundation. This is after all a sport they are playing for god's sake, please use this fame for something productive. such a sad state :-( oh well enjoy the match now

Looks like you do not know facts.Sachin Tendulkar is involved with Apnalaya in Mumbai since the last twelve years, and he sponsors 200 kids every year for their schooling and tuition. From this year,he is also sponsoring for the education of 200 more children.By the way, can you tell me what the charity foundations in the name of Woods,Federer,Imran,Roddick is doing?

As I said, I agree I am sure Sachin and others do charity but given his god like status he can do much more in terms of marketing that image and channel it towards charity. Imagine millions of fans could feed this charity and soo much good work.

Regarding your other question, you spend time on internet and you heard of google, so knock urself out

Is Sehwag the Greatest Batsman in the modern era??
by taps cricketfan on Dec 04, 2009 05:54 AM

Atrocious!! I know!

Sobers, Richards, Sachin, Lara, Ponting et..etc..Sehwag??

Consider this! 12 of his last 13 100s have been over 150. He has 6 frikkin double centuries and is 16 runs away from a thirdTRIPLE HUNDRED for chrissakes!!Whats more, none of them against Ban or Zim and he is a makeshift opener in test cricket - supposedly the hardest position to bat in tests!!

Whats amazing is that he scores at an atrocious rate for test cricket. His strike rate is in the mid-eighties and he owns the records for the fastest 250 scores, fastest 300 scores etc etc..

Has made runs on bouncy SA wickets, In Aus, Eng, SL, Pak, NZ..Infact, in the last SL series, where non of the batsman from Ind could score against Mendis and Murali, he made a double century. The next highest score was 25 or so!

But most importantly, we dont give Sehwag his due when describing his innings as brutal or explosive or pulverizing..Anybody watching yesterday or any of hi big innings closely should use one word above all others - GENIUS!

I am a huge fan of Sachin, Lara and Richards! Off the three Lara in full song comes closest to the range of shots that Sehwag possesses. Sachin and Lara are definitely more attractive playing the cover drive or the straight drive or the cut, but for sheer imagination and ability to create astonishing strokes out of nothing, Sehwag is unparalleled!

I know that I myself find it hard to name him as such. No footwork..absolutely still head, great hand eye coordination and a

bradman was exceptional not greatest...
by arvin g on Dec 04, 2009 05:52 AM  | Hide replies

bradman was a home pitches bully... he never faced likes of chandra or murli or saqlain or bedi or kumble turning sub-continent tracks or face lighting on fast tracks of wi/sa...
37/52 tests were against england... if ave is to be considered against 1/2 countries then players like richards and sachin and flower and ponting and greenidge and gavaskar and miandad... list caan go on will have better ave than home bully bradman...

those who totally agree to this shit I pity them... bradman has not faced many pitches an many bowlers agreed... but do u think any player u consider the best can score 10 centuries in his first 18 INNINGS with 6 of them above 200 and one above 300... i think u all are quiet ignorant of bradmans achievements... all u know is he has an average of 99.94 in test thats it..
give ur greats any pitch any bowler and condition and analyse if they can achieve that, all ur greats will lack only one thing rest all skills will be identical with those of bradman and that one thing is amazing consistancy...
i am a big tendulkar fan and i am taking nothing away from him...
bradman was the greatest of his ERA and tendulkar of his era..
there is no need to compare him with bradman compare him with lara ponting not bradman coz that era is gone...

Joshi saheb, shit bolne se koi jyaani nahi ho jata..Yes you have a view point , and there are other who think Bradman is too much hype..yes is was great, and two era should not be compared..but again, do not fool us with 99.99 % stat..ask him to pay 40 plus different bowlers on 20 different pitches and then ask him to show his stat...Once again he was great..but Sachin is the Greatest...
