Test cricket is really boring
by Raj on Dec 01, 2009 08:15 PM  | Hide replies

test cricket is really boring. Many people may like it but its too slow and has to be played for 5 days to get result if any. I am sure more than 50% of the current players dont want to play test cricket given a choice.

But test cricket is real cricket
It tests the physical fitness of the players.
It is not a joke to play continuously for 5 days.
But players for sake of easy money are not interested in test matches.
Nowadays under the name of entertainment,a misconception is raised that test cricket is boring.
Public dont want art in game of cricket. They just want quick result.
Pity on people like you and your thinking

physical fitness??? there are more games which require more physical fitness than test cricket.like football, ruby. standing in a ground for 2-3 days doesnt test ur fitness.

Just think of a bowler who bowls a 12-15 over spell??? or a batsman who has to bat for abt 6-8 hrs..and after all that he gets out for the first mistake he makes...All these requires tremendous concentration and stamina..Pls dont undermine test cricket

Raj agreed a test match is not as physical as rugby. But people dont stand around. In a test match typically he bowls 40 to 50 overs atleast. This can be very demanding physically. Test Cricket is real cricket and if we did away with test cricket ODI and T20 will die out very soon.

I still remember kim hughes left the captaincy in the past due to the windies
Gayle told his opinion about the status of the test cricket that doesn't mean he hate the test cricket.
Any how we need westindies cricket for its sheer naturality

Kim Hughes has made a stupid comment. In the next Test,Windies will come back strongly and prove what a gutsy team they are!!Everybody should understand that winning and losing are part of Cricket.IF Windies are to be barred from Test Cricket, then India should have been barred from Test cricket in the 90s because they played more shabby cricket than this!!

cricket is funny game so people like lalchand rajput, ajit agarkar, wasim jafar and many more do not even get a chance to do re entry in the test or first entry such is situation in india so also west indies guys with form frustrate and divert their careers plan & abondan cricket. cricket will not find son of poor man like kapil dev now become captain of team india or west indies

Sir Ajit Agarkar and Jaffer have given re-entry a dozen times for your kind info... They have failed time and again. Check out Agarkar's bowling average in test matches..

Hughes comment is a huge joke
by ashok chere on Dec 01, 2009 04:04 PM  | Hide replies

True, windies lost by an innings and 50 odd runs within three days. so what. srilanks also lost by an innings and hundred plus runs within 4 days. so will mr. Hughes demand for lanka to be barred from test cricket ? his comments are in poor taste and show of aussie's arrogance.

But it is true that Gayle said he wouldn't be crying if Test cricket died.
That is really bad, I as cricket lover cant just imagine cricket without Test matches.
But before giving such statement by Mr Huge, He should have confirmed about the intention of Westindies Cricket Board.Just bcoz Westindies lost by an inning and Gayle's statment, does not mean Westindies not interested in Test cricket

Hardly 6 to 7 teams playing test
by Jayanth on Dec 01, 2009 02:50 PM

If we go ahead and get rid of W. Indies it would one less team in the already small pool of teams.
Rather, other means of encouraging the sport in the island country should be examined

West Indies should give way to island teams
by Jagadeeshchandra k on Dec 01, 2009 02:09 PM  | Hide replies

I feel from the recent trends it will be better if each Caribbean island plays as a separate international team, rather than under the westindian flag. The problem of team selection, team spirit..etc will in all probability cease to exist.Perhaps Trinidad or a Barbados can be world beaters.
