If he bowls slow and flights his deliveries, he can run fast and also be the keeper. All depends on his fitness. But, still a very deep and profound question. Thanks Bharani. k p, I think your info is not accurate. His gf is a hockey goal keeper, I doubt they will allow her keep in a test match with a hockey stick and oversized helmet. All depends on BCCI though.

Sudhir Bhai, I couldn't control laughing after reading your answer. Your sense of humour is wonderful and you have said things with a fine sense of wit.

depends if India wins or loses and depends if the makeshift opener scores well or not.But the decision is based on family not on India. Yes he is a professional, but then he should stop claiming that he puts playing for above all.
SRT or Laxman or Dravid would not have missed this test for nothing!

that is the reason likes of gambhir can never be sachin who came to play for india and won the crucial wc match right after his father funeral... and then there are barking d- o gs who call sachin selfish...
Last time when i shared my opinion that Sreesanth is a class test bowler I got so many bad responses. I think after this test a majority of pupil started appreciating him. The only time I found Sree bowled badly in a test match is in England against England. Also he intentionally made body contact with Michael Vaughan. Otherwise in every test he played he bowled brilliantly. Even when India won the series in West indies his role was crucial. The bowl with which he dismissed brian lara was a great one. He always looks for wicket. I dont think he is a good odi player. He should learn to bowl economically in odis.In odis none for 35 is better than 3 for 60.
Re: Sreesanth class test bowler
by vinay on Dec 02, 2009 02:50 AM
agreed that 0/35 is better than 3/60. but even those 3 wkts if taken in initial 8-10 overs r more important than those 3 wkts taken in last 4-5 overs.

dear Seejo bro, dont read too much into the bad responses.this is a country where public opinion swings like a pendulum..never forget that a lot of opinion gets formed depending on how media projects one player or celebrity.
Re: Re: Sreesanth class test bowler

Yes , first of all our media should stop hiking or bring down to rock bottom , a player, whether he does good in a test match or he fails in another. Why wasting unneccasarily, 1 hr airtime, just debating on that player?
2 fast bowlers (Zaheer & Nehra) are fixed for the ODIs series against Sri Lanka. Now there is a very stiff competition for the other 2 or 3 pacers in the indian ODI squad. If current performance is criteria for selecting a player in the Indian ODI squad, then i think selectors should incude Manpreet Gony in the Indian ODIs squad. Gony has performed very well in the current domestic season & he has taken 20 wickets in the 4 matches he played. He has also scored some useful runs for the punjab. His batting average is around is 30 in this season. Sudeep Tyagi is also a strong contender for the ODIs. If selectors choose players on the basis of their NAME then the main candidates for 3rd and 4th pacer in 16 men ODI squad will be from Praveen, Ishant, Munaf patel, RP, Sreesanth (sree is gud in tests but in ODIs he seems to be very expensive) But if the selectors go with the current form and performance then selectors shud consider GONY, Tyagi & Praveen for the 3rd and 4th pacer slots in the ODIs squad. Selectors should also think about ravindra jadeja. Jadeja is a good bowler but he lacks the ability to become an all-rounder. In ODIs, if dhoni go with 5 batsman, 1 keeper & 1 all-rounder in the playing XI then selectors should replace jadeja with any one of the pathan brothers.
when his dad suffered a hear attack. His mother, agreat patriot, did not inform Rahul about his father, so that he could play for India without hiccups.
And we have Gambhir, saying from the rooftaops how he loves to play for the country, and yet when India is on the threshold of a historic world number rankinh in tests after decades, he choses to attend a family wedding.......

North Indians have this shitty laid back attitude that I hate. They take everything lightly. If they are not going to parties all the time and dancing, they think their life is a waste. That's the mindset of these fools.

Although I am not from north but you bugger need to reign in your tongue and stop your northie-southie ranting. Dont generalise anyone based on one behaviour or attitude, I am sure you wouldn't like to be judged the same way. so bugger, talk sense here, cut the crap and non-sense.

corect decision of gambhir. ckt is just a game n not a war that u hv to forget every family member. n its a blessing in disguise to players like murli vijay who wudnt hv got any opportunity for the next 2 years atleast.

If it was gambhir's brother marriaage then i can say that gambhir has made the wrong decision.
But gambhir is going to attend his younger sister's wedding so according to me he has done nothing wrong.
SISTER (specially younger sister) IS GOD's BEST CREATION AFTER MOM. if any one of u (readers) loves ur sister just like me then u will not contradict my comment.

This comment is nothing but hilarious. Gambhir is a professional cricket and if he puts his family life ahead of his profession its his prerogative and dont see how its anyones business. What right do you have to question Gambhir's integrity towards the Indian team? He has saved India in the first match helped us draw. he scored a hundred which helped us to win. He has scored 4 hundreds in 4 tests.

question is will dravid would have played if his mother told him... everyone can not be sachin who came to play and won that crucial wc match right after his father funeral and then some barking d- o- gs call sachin selfish... likes of gambhir only play for themselves and their own glory... how could he miss the chance to be center of attention at his sister wedding...
Re: Rahul Dravid chose to play for the country
by gaurav manchanda on Dec 02, 2009 01:39 AM
"gambhir's decision to prefer sister marriage over test match is right or wrong" depends on how M Vijay performs in the 3rd test match. If M Vijay scores a century in the 1st inning then according to me there will be no one who can say that gambhir has made the wrong decision. On the other hand, if vijay do not score & india loose the match then there will be million of people who will make gambhir INDIA's biggest VILLAIN or TRAITOR.

Don't see the issue here. What's wrong in taking a break, someone else will get a chance ... and secondly, this is not a war.

Fame and Money are temporary. You never know when it comes and goes. But family is first priority for anyone. Gambhir did a right thing. There's nothing more than a family affection in this world. There's no patriotism involved here as it's no war. It's a nice gesture by Gambhir. Every professional would have done the same thing as Gambhir did. We Indians always blow out of proportion.

Good that another emerging player got a chance to play..Good move Gambhir, u r not like our Guiness Chottu, who blocked the way of so many youngsters..

Well, all depends if India wins or loses the test. Its just my perspective. A Dravid or a Laxman or a SRT would not have skipped the test match.
