1. SA 2. India 3. Australia (3rd bcoz they have lost series against Ind and SA) 4. Srilanka (they have won home series and most of them against weak teams.)

Just another Indian bias article. It's a well known fact that Sri Lanka doesn't get enough Test match games, and they have always wanted to play more Tests. Look at the recent comments made by Murali and Sangakkara. Getting back to the BS article, India has not done enough to be at the number 2 position. When they last played Sri Lanka, they had no answer at all to the Sri Lankan bowlers like Mendis, Murali, Malinga and Kulasekera. Former top leading teams in the list, haven't lost like that against (at that point) lower ranked teams.

Newzealand series was played outside India and India would have completed the series 2-0 but for the rain. It was after 2 decades. So Dont compare Srilanka's victories against India which has fared well in the recent past even more than a year. Against Srilanka India lost by only 1-2 against unorthodox bowling. I have always seen Srilanka's victories driven by unorthodox approach in home series. They have never win a series often outside Srilanka (only against minnows whom they play regularly and improve their records).India by far and large win many matches outside india in the recent past. India is fit to be behind South Africa. May be Srilanka can come after England. Let them go to Australia or England or South Africa and win a test match there. The Author is correct in his points. This ICC points system is a crap.

We are talking about test cricket here and here are some stats to open your eyes. In last year India played 9 test matches and won 5 matches, rest 4 were drawn. India won all the three series and they were against Australia at home(2-0), England at home(1-0) and New Zealand away. The last time we lost was in SriLanka on 8th August 2008, we lost the series 2-1. The series before that was drawn against South Africa. So if you take only an year;s performance than India has not lost any match or any series.

so you think india is a weak team coz srilanka thrashed them last time they played... in that case no matter where srilanka is then india should and must be below them...
