Fifth test
by Abdul Rafique on Aug 26, 2009 02:02 PM

The last test has proved again that Aussies are poor players of spin and thats the main reason why they always try to put players like Harbhajan, Murali and Monty on backfoot.
This time they paid for taking Swann lightly. Maybe Swann should brace himself to be badly abused when England travel to Australia next time.

Rain at Cardiff cost us just as much

Many people forget the entire last session of Day 4 was washed out. What a difference that may have made. It's not "that" hard to bat for 30 minutes when scoring runs is not required AT ALL (and Shane Warne is not playing!)

one can say had the 3rd test not been washed out

england would have won the series 3-1

even if they lost the 1st test the result would still have been in englands favour

You are absolutely right.... No one should play IF-THEN-ELSE games at this stage..... least of all Mr. Jeff Thomson..... :)

I think Guest's comment above made that excellent point quite clearly..... :)

What a crap

Before the final ashes test, Jeff Thompson wrote saying there is no way England can win the fifth test. Now he is after Ricky Ponting. I think ex cricketers should stop behaving as if they had done no wrong in their playing days. Many of Indian former cricketers who do commentary now talk about how current crop of players are poor players of fast and swing bowling. But these very guys never played well against good quality pace bowling. Its only in last 8 years that India's overseas record is improving. Its time TV channels and news media picks ex cricketers with right pedigree for commentary and writing columns. Rest of them with no work can at least avail NREGA and keep themselves busy

Why cant you aussies take Jeff Thompson at face value and accept that Ponting is a S*** captain. In the last test, he preferred to use the 125 kmph Stuart Clark, instead of the 145kmph Shane Watson. And I dont even want to discuss the number of overs that Katich bowled and as for Clarke, hope he didnt because he was injured!

Good to see that you deeply want the Aussies to beat England...... :)

I am sure they will thump England in the return Ashes the way they did in 2006..... :)

And in case there is any problem, your expert advice will always come handy for Punter.... ;-)

Why all this unsolicited input...have you applied for an Australian visa - or are you grateful for being among who have as yet not been beaten up?

Given the amount of concern YOU have shown for Aussie cricket's well being, I strongly suspect that you are the one in the visa line..... :)

Mrs. Nambooderipad:

Or Mrs. Chari or whatever....

Thanx for the references offer..... :)

But I will have to decline it..... :)

My prospective employers are not likely to attach any significance to "referrals" like yours when they see your "cricketing sense" displayed in this ramshackle fashion on Rediff...... :)

With such fippant mind at work, forget acting as a reference...... :)

All the best!!!..... :)

Sorry to have rattled you! Stay anonymous and all the best for your next job hunt trip. If you need any references, you can surely google my name and point it to your employers!

Pseudo... whatever,

You still do not have the gall to talk under your own name. If you don't, then you are fundamentally unfit to debate. If you realise that it is good for all of us!!

It might give you great jitters of pleasure if someone Googles your name and comes up with what you have been debating on the Internet about..... :)

Personally I will never do it..... Clearly you have heard NOTHING about internet security....

All the best to your future potential employers who will Google you when you submit your bio data to them..... :)

I am very happy with my screen name thank you very much.... and perfectly capable of conducting debates too.... which you might have noticed in case you pay attention..... :)

What can I say about you anyway...except that you are a hypocrite. You profess to be 'against Pseudos', yet do not even have the gall to post messages on your own name.
