The main bone of contention is the 'sports committee' the vested interest body which is the root cause for the selection muddle. It is not clear why the sports committee represented by non-cricketing members of various clubs should recommend names. Why can't the selectors themselves be independently pick the players. And why do you need so many selectors ?So, total of about 12 plus 4, that is 16 people are involved in the selection process.Should not the number be just two or three for one state Delhi ? Even the national team selectors representing 35 states&UT are just 4 or 5 at the max.Arun Jaitly seems to be backing the present system and the wrong people. Not much of hope.....
Good and sensible posts Imran!!! I too totally agree with you when you said there should not be any conflict of interest and totally endorse the view that there should be any chance to even create a conducive environment for corruption.

sorry . .. please read '....that there should be any chance .........' as '....that there should not be any chance .........'
sehwag wanted to listen this because he really does not want to quit delhi,
Sehwag does not have balls to ask jaitley to quit.
Jaitley is very cunning quite like shourie faker, he avoided controversy by playing 'himself as outsider' fiddle by running away to Shimla.
Jaitley is buying his time and so is sehwag.
If Sehwag has balls, he could have moved entire team to Gurgaon, Faridabad or Dwarika (somewhere in/near Delhi ) and called the team Delhi-I, many sponsors would have backed him.
Infact, Sehwag needs to talk to big sponsors and then talk with Jailtey to quit.
sehwag lost because he could not make Jaitley quit.Nothing good came from this standoff. sehwag fed more milk to the snake.
sri lanka and pakistan both r small countries and can praduce best team what happend to india in the 2nd highest populated and 7th largest country in world but where is the talent.
