useless comment

This is Ian's personal comment. Both the brothers are "Chapal"..one is for right and another for left...I think he must have some personal obligations to Ricky...who is not at all comparable with Waugh

Ponting - Greatest villain of this era
by whogiveadamn on Aug 25, 2009 01:51 AM  | Hide replies

Ponting will go down as the most hated cricketer to have ever lived. He is detested not just by Indians, but by pretty much all the cricketing nations (with the exception of Australia, of course). He will be remembered as the villain of this era. He was a great captain because of a great team and tradition developed by Steve Waugh. Along with wins, Ponting brought disgrace, arrogance, hatred and racism into the team. He'll forever be associated with these things. He will always be the guy who grasses a catch and still appeals. I consider him to be one of the most polarizing figures in today's cricket (along with Sachin). People either love him or hate him. But unfortunately people who hate him far outnumber the ones who love him.

Waugh the best
by Rationalist on Aug 24, 2009 11:07 AM  | Hide replies

Steven waugh was always a better capitan. He was a capitan & player who could convert defeats into victories with his grit & determination. Whenever it seemed that the opposition was getting away with victory, he used to come up with a new blow and shift the momentum of the game. Pointing lacks such qualities nor he has such killer ideas. He is only aggressive and arrogant. Though Waugh appeared calm, he always had potent tactics.

SC....Please understand my situation.I am humiliated on these boards due to Australia's humiliation in the Ashes.I keep hoping that denigrating my own team and my own countrymen, and covering up for the Aussie cheats would win me some favor, some scraps, maybe even an Aussie visa, but all I get is scorn on the Rediff boards.Everyone knows Bucknor helped Aussies win the SCG match, but I just cant accept the truth. That India were down to the last 3 men, and that India came to s position where they had to battle for a draw instead of seal a win, was all Bucknors help. But then I cant accept that in public. Please understand.:)

AP,

;-)... so you firmly believe that Australians are cheats and cheated in Sydney test. And that India was the better team and deserved to win that series.....:)

SC:

India didn't win the Sydney test because of poor umpiring....

But they "lost" the Sydney test purely because of incompetent batting by the last 3 batsmen who couldn't hold on for even one over....

England's last pair showed us in the Cardiff Test how test matches are saved ....

That is plain fact-speak, so of little value on this emotion-riddled Rediff board.... :)

AP,
:) so finally you're asying Aussie can't win against descent team, unless Umpire helps and that cheating is in their blood...:)

:) Didn't they also cheat in Centurian as well...:) now you will say Candy test wasn't cheating right?...:)

SC:

No I am not saying that.....

I am saying that umpiring errors are not uncommon in test matches....

I am also saying that India pulled the defeat onto themselves by losing 3 wickets in that one final over... We should have played like England did at Cardiff....

And let me tell you that umpiring errors don't fall in the category of cheating.... :)

by vinay on Aug 23, 2009 11:42 PM  | Hide replies

ricky had just got a good n established side to lead. although he continued the winning streak. still ponting is not the best.
border was the one who actually built a good team from the team of newcomers n started the upward movement of their team. border led them to reliance cup win in 1987. n changed the whole team.

true, spitting cobra.
i meant ponting got an established side to pull up victories with the help of good players like hayden, mcgrath, warne, langer, etc. but once the gr8 players retired, he became helpless.
but border was the one who built the team of novice players. he was gr8.
although his successors like taylor, steve, ponting continued the good run. border was the best capt.

pointing is great captain, but indians are feeling jealous , they cant hear good about ponting , ponting is better then sachin, sachin plays only for run , but ponting for team , its the only indians who gave rank to sachin , he is only run machine , not a match winner

not only ponting but most of aussies present team just play for their personal records and personal glory and not for the team... just concluded ashes england won despite having medicore but vital contributions from all... just 2 100's where as aussie went for big scores individually and not for team as 8 100's show...

Guys, do you really know the fact that Chappell's (Greg and Ian) are Uncles in relation to Ponting. But frankly speaking, Ponting is indeed the best captain ever and one of the best batsman ever produced (ODIs Tests) in the world. Leave aside his arrogant nature and controversies he is indeed a great living legend. Hats off to him for his achievements.
