Mr Buchanan, We fully appreciate that you found Sourav Ganguly not up to the mark as the captain of a T-20 side. Though opinions may certainly vary on this matter, as the coach of the team you were free to give your views and select another as captain. However, what you actually chose to do was ludicrous and silly. You floated the idea of four captains for a single team - and then finally chose only one captain. So, it was plain to everybody that you floated the idea of four captains not for a cricketing logic, but as a sham to get rid of Sourav. Really, Mr Buchanan, you should not have resorted to such a means!
Moreover, as far as we have seen, the KKR performed worse without Sourav as the captain than Sourav as the captain. So, here too your idea flopped!
Finally, one looks for instant success in instant cricket. How can you blame the owner of the team for losing confidence in you when you couldn't deliver the goods in two successive years?

Saurav Ganguly. R u nuts? just bcoz of u r bengali and he is bengali does not make him one of the best.
Only reason he was successful becoz he had a unbeatable Aussie team (with Mcgrath, Warne, gillespie, lee, hayden etc), in which he hardly had to do any work. That aussie team would have won even without a coach. Now when buchanan has to coach a mediocre team, he is finding it really hard.

I am surprised that Buchanan was surprised. Sure there were close defeats. But that will not go down in the record books. With KKR, Buchanan had a freedom, which he did'nt have even with Australia. But he spent all the time talking instead of looking at his team, and trying to work things out.You have to play the hand you get. If he had a problem with Sourav's fitness, he should have kicked him upstairs, made him the team mascot and chief motivator. Look at his onfield decisions. During IPL2, he did not play Langeveldt, the in-form bowler till the very end. When you look at this, you can conclude that Buchanan built his reputation on a strong Aussie team, which possibly did'nt need him anyway. Contrast this with Warne, he had very limited players on hand, but he got the best out of them in IPL1. By the way, Rajasthan Royals did not do too badly in IPL2. So maybe Warne was right, Buchanan is overrated.

Cant agree with u on that boss. Lkie a good teacher a coach's job is to help players exploit their talent effectively. If a student is exceptionally intelligent and hard working, the teacher's work becomes easier. Same with a coach. The real credit 4 the success of the Aussies should go to somebdy like Alan Border who converted a bunch of also rans into a world beating side. Its 4 the same with imran Khan. Look at the Pakistanis now. Its difficult 2 beleive that Pakistan was one of the top teams in the world who. So my friend, a good coach or captain is one who builds a team from scratch, not somebody who exploits another person's hard work.

Yes, I too agree.. that Aussies can win even without a coach - 'coz they know "sledging" "the jelly beans" and other such dirty tricks :) [am I irritating u AP?]

I am comparing buchanan as coach of aussie team and buchanan as coach of KKR team. You do not make sense coz you are trying to change the profile of sachin from a batsman to a bowler
Akram and Waquer Yunis from Pakistan Srinath and V Pradad from India Zaheer and Ishant Sharma from India Donald and Pollack from South Africa Steyn and Ntini from South Africa Walse and Ambrose from WI Taylor and Edwards from WI Holding and Marshal from WI McGRath/Gillespi/Lee from Aus Lilly and Thompson from Aus Imran khan and Sarfaraz Navaz from Pak Aderson and Sidebottom from Eng

Come again! A Bengal player doesn't know others from his state? The players openly admitted that Ganguly wud have been better than McCullum since he knew the local lads better.

i will rate sachin on top. in ODI he has better avg than others. he strike rate is also better(86) than ricky lara n silva. similerly he has avg of 55 in tests n e managed it since last 20 yrs. consider the fact tht most of the time he came in worst situations in tests since few yr ago india had opener prb and he always came when india lost 2 quick wkt.
