The reasons for rise of India
by Forrest Gump on Aug 07, 2009 10:53 AM  | Hide replies

India was already No.3 in Tests since last 5-7 yrs....in ODIs it has risen to No.2 purely due to Aus team declining....other teams like West Indies have declined coz their youngsters take to NBA in US, teams like South Africa also have youngsters taking to football and rugby, English youngsters take on to Soccer...India despite all its youngsters taking on to cricket still remains NOT no.1....its a sad thing actually....i think this article was sponsored by Dhobi's PR agents,......

Main reason is that when 1999 Azhar struck in Scam then at that time ganguly made a perfect team, players like yuvi,zaheer,viru-think T20 world cup due to non availablity of viru hw much we struckup in opening-think about 2003 world cup we are runners, that time ganguly was a captain-he deserves to be best captain so far.

If you give blame of T20 failure to Viru's absence, then the credit of 2003 WC must be given to Sachin Tendulkar. He single handedly took Indian team to final.

Shun cricket
by kenny kruise on Aug 07, 2009 10:51 AM

cricket maybe the most followed sport in India, we all know that we fail miserably in 99% of other sports, cricket helps only the cricketers with the millions they make, atleast we Indians should try to develop interest in other sports

Becoming # 1 cricket team
by x on Aug 07, 2009 10:46 AM  | Hide replies

India can become 1st.... interest in cricket is lost in other countries.

In Lanka, Paki, WIndi, NZ, nobody wants to waste time watching cricket.

Also players like ganguly, dravid, laxman are helping by not playing anymore in the ODIs.

So now the trick is known how to become 1st and should be followed for tests.

cricket is already in decline in England, Windies and Zimbabwe as people are getting less interested. Most are not ready to spend too much time watching the game.
Soon the scenario will follow in SA and Lanka.

But alternate to this, India, Bangladesh and Pakistan have spectators ready to watch this game for hours/days.

The fact is, when TRUE DEVELOPMENT come to a nation, people get less time to waste.

If 200 nations play cricket, I still think India would feature in the top 10 or top 20. It's simply because India is a cricket crazy nation. Lot of youngsters in India love cricket and play the game with passion. The same is not true in case of foot ball.

200 nations are not stupid enough to spend so much time and money for a third rated game like cricket.

@ another critic......plzz dont be fooled into thinking that if 200 nations play cricket, india will still be at the top.....if countries like China, USA and many other EU countries decide to give cricket as much imp as they do to football, india will drop drastically......their professionalism and dedication to watever sport they take up and sheer hard work will take them miles ahead of india in cricket....for eg;look at USA in world football today ....india at present is just enjoying top position in this sport(cricket) with few people to challenge it.....Enjoy it while it lasts....

if all nations start playing cricket, then Indian will slip to 150th position.just because we are crazy about cricket doesnt mean we'll do good in it.

Kolkatta is "soccer crazy" still it had NOT helped India gaining Top 10 position in Football. MERELY been Crazy won't help,
moreover India is crazy as long as it has sizable presence in cricket, once relegated it will loose interest in Cricket too.

true....but just 1 or 2 states being crazy wont help mr. pujari.....india needs good football grounds of international standards.....good infrastructure.....football needs to be marketed the way cricket is.....the players need to be paid well and given better deals.....it hurts to see a country of a billion ranking 147th in the world behind unheard of countries like burkina faso etc etc.....i wonder wen india will take sports seriously....throw the bloody politicians out of sport management.....we dont wanna invest in sports facilities...but we expect our country to reap gold medals in olympics...highly frustrating

Dhoni the magician
by Kumar Chakraborthy on Aug 07, 2009 10:35 AM

Dhoni is the best captain ever to be pro the game called "CRICKET" He has surpassed all earlier so called best captains like Chappels,Lloyds,Brearly,Ponting,Ganguly,Pataudi,Fleming, etc etc. Not only with his shrewd brain but also with his bat time & again he has curved out India's win. He is awesome. Indis will go miles ahead under Dhoni.

Rediff pls. take care. Hadlee is fr. New Zealand & not Aus. Also he is Sir R.H.

Dhoni too will soon be uttered in the same fashion as Sir .
