He is one of the best players India had had in Test cricket. He is in the same league of Sachin, Ganguly and Dravid. Its unfortunate that he is not given an oppurtunity to play in world cups from 1999.

Sunil punekar, He is the best of best batsman present in Indian side, His technique is really awesome .. No other player in Indian side matches his skills.Better review australians about his game..

Don't say that no other players have better skils than Laxman in the Indian team. What do you think about Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid. Dravid and Tendulkar are far better than Laxman.
VVS is the best ever...his epic innings at Eden is undoubtedly the best innings ever by an Indian ..in fact even the all time greats like Viv Richards and Bradman have not played an innings of that class in that super tense situation..VVS is puer test material..forget rubbish like ODIs and T20..
Re: the best ever

Pure Cricket is TEST Cricket.., & Laxman is the best player india have in him, His impecable timing and cripsy cover drive wow, He is best among all the test batsman.

HIs innings at Eden Gardens in 2001 against the best team in the world of that time is truly the best.
most of us here are cricket lovers. some have very strong views on the game and affiliations to the regions we're from, and i know we will fight and argue here. Nobody is right and two people arguing can be both right as well. But could i speak for the silent majority and ask that we keep these posts clean and not get personal. Of course show the passion, show how disgruntled we are, but can we try and not show the world a face, we might not be proud of at a later, saner time? I've had that happen to me at times, and have been ashamed of allowing myself to get dragged into slingfests.Pls think about it, and i'm sure we'll all have better, more meaningful dialogues and debates. Cheers:-)

Your are absolutely right Rajesh. In fact, when the topic is cricket, I do not read the replies as they are very personal and condescending.

dear kukku and arpit, u guys are amazing. so well mannered and obviously well brought up, it shows. cheers. am sure ur parents'll be proud of u. Cheers guys:-)
See this laxman at this time of career he is playing for county...As raina, rohit sharma having problems in facing short ball. Both are very gud players but if they play in county and get the experience with that condition will handful for team india and also for them.
He is a class and stylish player or would like to say the stylish batsmen ever in World Cricket. So it's not a big surprise that he has played a match-winning knock which he has done "n" number of times we don't remember. It still surprises me why he is not there in the Indian ODI side. One can check all his ODI tons which have almost come a run-a ball. Sachin is always remembered for his brave knock in Sharjah in 1998 but did any one remember that Laxman was invloved with Sachin in that big partnership. We still love you Very Very Special Laxman

i surely do man...also India's famous test victories were all scripted by the Laxman- Dravid combo at Kolkotta, Adelaide...
Re: What's surprising

He is the best batsman in world cricket,No one matches his mantle .. No question for his technique .. Laxman always performed in badtimes of india
Re: What's surprising
by rajesh r on Aug 05, 2009 01:24 PM
Anil bhai He is Special. We all have a place in our hearts, but deep within we know he just doesnt cut the mustard wrt ODI's, and am sure u know it too. He doesnt have a very very special knee and so is a liability in the field, Plus his stats are underwhelming. So p'haps he needs to concentrate where he's most valuable: in the longer version. Cheers and pls keep that head on ur shoulders:-)

Dear rajesh r More painful than seeing laxman in odis, is ur english and choice of words dude !! Cutting the mustard ??? Now wat was tat ??? "Underwhelming"....tats a new word in the dictionary.... Plz dnt rape the language u could have used simple words than trying to impress with your silly english..

Rohit,
I can understand if you do not like Rajesh's English. However, "cut the mustard" and "underwhelming", are both correct as far as semantics are concerned.

You do one thing If you think u r a master in English start English Speaking coaching classes , perhaps you could earn something frm thr rather than wasting ur time here.

rohit sirji, i wouldn't want to waste ur and my time in educating you about the finer nuances of a language ur obviosuly a master at. Unfortunately I can't type here in tamil or oriya and so have to use whatever is afforded me. I'd appreciate it if we didnt get personal here. I am presuming ur a gentleman and a cricket lover, and ur presuming i'm a dumb, illiterate duffer. No doubt, we're both mistaken. Cheers!

Laxman cannot be compared to Sachin, laxman plays for india & Sachin plays for records(Himself). Whenever Sachin scored a centuary INDIA LOST (HEHE) > When ever Laxman Played India won. - Dont fall on sachin feet Mr.True indian

We don’t find any greatness of laxman. But Australians know better than us in the filed. He has shown is class in batting. I can say laxman is only player for classy shorts.
Re: VVS
by Anil Singh on Aug 05, 2009 01:15 PM
Yes he was not treated well by the so-called blind duffer selectors. Kris Srikkanth has selected all dumb players from Chennai since he heads the selection panel
Re: Re: Re: VVS
by Anil Singh on Aug 05, 2009 01:19 PM
But what was the performance of R Ashwin , S Badrinath or Murli Vijay who have been selected in the team for zero performance what wrong had Irfan Pathan done to be not in the side.
Re: Re: Re: Re: VVS
by Santanu De on Aug 05, 2009 04:49 PM
Anil, Irfan Pathan has been disappointing to say the least. His pace has dropped to about 110 and can't be trusted to pick up wickets.
Badrinath is very unlucky not to be playing test cricket already. He is arguably one of the finest batsmen in the country today, among youngsters.
From whatever little we have seen of Murali Vijay, he has not disappointed. I have also seen him play in Ranji matches and he looks a definite prospect.
I don't see any bias from the selectors so far. IMO, Balaji and Badrinath should be permanent names in the first XI.
And no, I am not from TN. However, you are wearing tinted glasses. Sorry.

how many chances given to R Ashwin , S Badrinath or Murli Vijay on the team compared to irfan and all other....
Re: Re: VVS
by rajesh r on Aug 05, 2009 01:05 PM
like who duffer? just answer that one question? Tamilnadu btw, is the domestic one day champions, and have yet to get representation commensurate with the deeds. Now u don't hear us howling about a raina or a rohit sharma gettin in thru quotas....so why cant u extend us the same decency?
Re: Re: Re: VVS
by rajesh r on Aug 06, 2009 08:24 AM
hmmm...coming back to irfan, he IS an undoubted talent, but he just doesnt have the thrust to go with the cut any more...the pace has dropped to trundler levels. Mebbe we can leave him to find his mojo again, and look at other talent. Like Dhawal kulkarni, Kamran Khan( if he corrects his action),Umesh Yadav of Vidarbha who impressed Lillee as the quickest in India...mebbe the pot of gold is at the end of a different rainbow??

His innings of 76 and 124* at Napier in Mar-2009 was not given that importance though, why was ur mouth shut on tht occassion.
Re: Re: hangover of colonial slavery
by rajesh r on Aug 05, 2009 01:30 PM
Anil, in a way ur right. VVS has p'haps not got the kinda support ther have, but thats not their fault. Nor can we take him into the ODI bteam now, when he'll be more a liability. Thats not the way we want to remember him, right?? Two wrongs, buddy, will never make a right...unfortunately. Cheers and stay chilled
