I am one of the greates lover and fan of Cricket. I started watching cricket from 1992. I saw top of many great cricket and I also their bottom. But Ricky Ponting is my favourite captain ever. I saw many great captain like Fleming, Ranatunuga, Wesels from South Africa when it came back, Smith and Cronze, Jaywardhane, Gaunguly from India, Azhar to from India and now Dhoni, Inzmam and Akram from Pakistan. Steev Waugh and Teylor from Austrilya, Walse and lara from West India even Andi Flower from Zimvabye. Ponting is the best for me.

i will consider him as best captain only if he is able to win the world cup without, mcgrath, warne & gilchrist lets see his performance in the next WC

For ur kind information i would like to tell you. In the world cup of 2003 there was no Shane warne and in 2007 there was no brett lee in aus's side. As a matter of fact Ricky is a gem for Cricket

Ponting does not hold a candle to Sachin Tendulkar as a batsman...and does not hold a candle to Sourav Ganguly as a captain...
Inspite of having a mediocre team, Ganguly steered India to a WC final....Ponting would have struggled to take such a team past the 1st round...so don't write all this trite stuff again and again....

u tell me in 2003 & 2007 who was there to support sachin, did sachin had luxury to play & get support of players like mcgrath, bevan , symonds, waugh, martyn, hayden
and for you kind info inever mentioned lee in my list
ppl say pointing won wc as a captain , he was there in steve waughs team that took the worldcup & bla bla bla , sachin played for more than 15 years but could not win a cup,
but . . . .
1. ponting can never become a role model for tuue sportman spirit like sachin his record is very poor compared to sachin.
2. and all tose world cup included other good finishers like bevan , hayden , gilchrist, mcgharth, warne, lee, martyn , waugh, saymonds,
tell me who was there to support sachin compared to this match winners in aus.
i will give u one example in a 2003 WC match against pakistan india was chasing some 272 (pressue game ind/pak wc) sachin scored brilliant 98 runs and got out
IF he did not got support of rahul & yuraj who finished the game for india , HIS KNOCK woould Havee become a faliure, and ppl would say he is not a match winner , he should have stayed till the end, but ponting never faced such thing in his aus team evev if he score 70 80 it becomes a match winning innings

what a ph@@du example and analysis.....sachin is in different class and so is ponting....no comparision.....sachin can only perform but ponting is a leader...........accept it....though its hard to digest as ponting is a aussie

Sachin is Crickets greatest player no doubt his batting style is unmatchable but he is selfish. He declined Indian Captiancy for Selfish reasons it will affect his game and he cannot make records then after.. In test i just know 2Series where sachin played for country in 98 against Aussies and 08 against England in Chennai.Look at 99 against Pakistan he threw his wicket when victory was near. Ponting will surly overtake his record of Centuries in Test.
