There is a method in selection of Australian team.............
by Sachin zindabad on Aug 04, 2009 04:07 PM  | Hide replies

There is a method in selection of Australian players by Australian selectors, For example Brad Hodge has best first class record comapred to Simon Katich and Michale Clarke but what is his performance for Australian team, Australian selectors selected Michal Clarke as future captain of Australian team and he is goin to succeed Ricky Ponting :-)

S.Katich VS M.Clarke
by Anurag Rathore on Aug 04, 2009 03:53 PM  | Hide replies

S.Katich First class record
M - 205
Avg. - 54.55
100s - 47
HS - 305

M.Clarke first class record
M - 107
Avg. - 45.07
100s - 25
HS - 201

Now compare who is better. Both players have equal test record. But Ponting destroyed the career of a talented batsman. S.Waugh gave Katich chance in middle order.

Simon Katich is a good sold batsman but on difficult pitches and in difficult conditions, Australia hev been extricated out of a tricky corner by Michael Clarke...not once but several times.....

Michael Clarke has temperament and talent both.......Katich has talent but lacks temperament at the highest level to be called a great player...i would put him is the same league as Damien Martyn...solid and workmanlike with talent but lacking in big match temperament.....

Katich is just a 50s man in international ckt,....while Clarke has already saved Aus one test in recent ashes and almost won them one test in the series....clarke has much more talent which u can see in his performances in international cricket all around the globe.

selectors select last 15 players bt thereafter its up to team mgmt to decide who wll play n who wll nt. here captain has a major role.

If Katich is in 15 then he must be in playing X1 but he gave chance to P.Jaques but not Katich.

Thats why Aus is struggling nowadays. They don't have captain like S.Waugh who backed B.Lee, D.Martyn, Langer etc.

Aus selectors have gone mad and result Aus is going to loose against Eng.

What is happening with Agarkar
by Forrest Gump on Aug 04, 2009 03:48 PM  | Hide replies

Recently there was an article in TOI which compared Irfan's avg to rest of the current seamers of India.....funny thing was all of them had averages above 33 and Strike Rates above 40 in ODIs in last 10 matches...compare that to Agarkar who was dropped uncremoniously from ODIs when he was having average less than 30 and SR less than 35 in his last 20 matches....still he can outdo these seamers in ODIs....unless politics by Srikanth and co is involved, i don't see any other reason for keeping out Agarkar considering none of the current pacers are doing well....

How long will Ajait Agarkar rest on his past laurels, Earlier he has best strike rate of 28 now it has come down to 35,How long will u talk about his performances when he was a youngster, What about his performances now-a-days, Even local players are smashing him to all corners of the park, Even his performance for Mumbai is absurd, Even a medium talented bowler like Dhawal Kulkarni is dominating him in Mumbai Team :-)

Is there any meaning in comparing a gr8 player like Viru Sehwag who has scored 2 300's to that of a Ajit Agarkar who scored 7 golden ducks in Australia, Ajit Agarkar was known more as a bowling all-rounder but his batting was doin more talk than his bowling, Same case with other m0r0ns like Irfan Pathan, Praveen Kumar and Ravindra jadeja :-)

Basically, the captain of winning ashes team sh**ts into the urn, once it is dry it is burnt to ashes. These ashes are never thrown away it just keeps piling up. This has been going on for 127 years the reason for the odd number(ashes are played once every 2 years) is that one year the winning captain was constipated and could not give his bit and hence the ashes had to be postphoned ... they are big on tradition! The other interesting fact is that is predicted that the urn will be full of sh**t by 2019 which has all elders in MCC quite worried as you can well imagine!

When the urn was built a 127 years ago it was predicted to last till 2015 but a couple of years extra was added because of the constipated captain, the other 2 years was added because of a similar reason ... when Australia defeated Jardine's English team the aussie captain's ahole had become so tight from clenching it every time Larwood threw down a bouncer that he did not have very much to give at the end. The preciseness of the english on display again ..offcourse we in India have been privileged to see this preciseness all around us, wow!
