Jitu, we can't do anything here. Who they hate Sachin will hate, whatever he does. If he makes runs, he is playing for records or himself if he doesn't he is over and should be thrown out of the team!
That's what burden called he's been facing all these years. Still if you check the records he's much better than other batsmen in the team, except Gambhir (in avg case)

heheheh...Dhoni doesn't have enough shots in his kit dude. He can hammered it when bowl he finds an overpitched bowl. Now bowlers have found his weekness. Raina did good enough but they were Dhoni, Morkel and Flintof who lost the match for Chennai. More besides, it's a good effort from Delhi's bowlers and fielders in final 4 overs. Warner took a super catch and run out two batsmen. Vettori bowled very well and so did Nehra, Salvi and Nannes in their last overs.

Raina and Albie Morkel culprits to make CSK lose.
by Richard Maxton on Apr 24, 2009 11:19 AM  | Hide replies

Albie's drop of Ab, no big hitting and Raina's just wasting enough balls to get runs to his credit and and wasting the free hit cost CSK the match. Dhoni should now look into some solution for these 2 slobs.

Musings
by Orient Mystique on Apr 24, 2009 10:55 AM  | Hide replies

Soon after the auction of new set of players, in February 2009 it was clear that the huge price paid to KP, Freddie and Mortaza Mashrafe and inclusion of certain players like Tyron Henderson was sheer fancy of the franchise owners.

In the three matches that CSK, RCB and RR have played till now, Freddie, KP and Tyron Henderson haven't contributed a single match winning performance. Mortaza is yet to play!

One may say that there are 14 league matches and it is too early to comment. But there is no doubt left that even if KP and Freddie turn in some better performances in the remaining matches, their price is astronomical and unjustified. There are lesser mortals like Abishek Nayar, Yusuf Pathan, Balaji, Raina etc. who contribute more often but are paid peanuts in comparison.

As the financial aspect is the prerogative of the owners, keeping the price issue apart, I feel that if CSK owners are serious, they should send back Badrinath, who is primarily a good Ranji player and unfit for ODIs and T20s.

The following will be a better composition for the team in the remaining 11 matches:

1.Hayden 2. M Vijay 3. Raina 4. Flintoff 5. Dhoni 6. Parthiv 7.J Sharma 8. Gony 9. Balaji 10. Muralitharan 11. Ntini

Morkel can replace Flintoff occasionally or when the latter leaves on May 9 for his national duty.

Further, the likes of Hayden, Parthiv and Raina should be told clearly by the coach that they should bat on after getting a start and not throw away wickets.

Badrinath seems to be upset overs his batting position and does not interested to contribute anything for Dhoni and team.

Remember, he was doing well in the 1st IPL whenever he comes to bat in the middle overs.

Cricket is a team game and no player is above the team's interests. If the team management wants Badrinath to bat at a particular position - whether No.3 or No.8, he should gladly do so and contribute his best.

But my observation is that enough chances have been given to him in ODIs and T20 but he seems to be basically a grafter of runs. His fielding is a big plus but in T20, any specialist batsman should score at a strike rate of over 100 and go for big hits if the situation demands.

I stick to my view that he should be sent back to India, never to return to CSK even in future.

It is also unfortunate that quite a few good players like Vignesh, Satish, Tirukumaran, Saravanan were lost to ICL. Players like Vignesh would have really boosted the CSK team, if allowed by BCCI.

In any case, it appears to be an atrocity to keep Vijay and Ntini in cold storage, when the team is not doing well as expected. I would have liked them to win all the three matches that they have played so far, while they have lost two and won only one.

CSK's defeat against the DDD
by SR Hari on Apr 24, 2009 10:12 AM  | Hide replies

One of the most disappointing performances by the highly fancied team. I only hope the CSK team had not become complacent with their performance in 2008 and the expectation on its performance this year. MSD should take some rest immediately. Freddie, for the money paid to him, should also do the same if he doesn't perform in the next match. Badrinath seems to be playing as if he is in the nets. The body language of the CSK players in the last 3-4 overs did not indicate that they were playing to win. How many 4s or 6s were scored in the last 5 overs against the singles taken?. Something very very drastic needs to be done if they want to enter SF.

CSK needs to 3 more changes,

1.Just bring in M.Vijay in place of Patel
2.Change the batting position of Badrinath from 7th to 2nd down.
3.Dhoni and Flintoff should come to bat after 15th over to utilise the final overs.

I share your views too.

My feelings can be put down like this. CSK team might have been shocked (rather than DD) when Gambhir and Viru fell in quick succession cheaply to reduce the team to 8 for 2. This shock seemed to numb them and from the faces of most players it appeared as if a lump had formed in their throats and they were unable to either swallow or spit it.

This situation was on display throughout Delhi batting from AB-Dilshan till the end, was briefly absent when Hayden, Parthiv and Raina were batting for CSK. It returned again and it was sheer pain to watch the fancied Freddie and Morkel not making any kind of effort to accelerate the scoring and being content to take singles.

The CSK batsmen should have learnt a few things from Dilshan and AB de Villiers but alas, that was not to be.

As I am a diehard fan of CSK and Dhoni, I still wish they play well in the remaining matches and eventually the trophy itself.

Congratulations to Sehwag and DD, since I am a great fan of Sehwag too!
