Rahul Dravid - hard work personified
by anand nayak on Apr 19, 2009 07:06 PM  | Hide replies

I have great regards for Dravid. If one looks back at his career he was branded as a Test Player. But he worked hard to get out of the shell and carved a niche in the one-day format as well. And now I think he is getting into the T20 mode slowly. Youngsters should take a leaf out of Dravid's book. I would like to see Dravid in the T20 world cup squad.

in 52nd match Played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on 25 May 2008 when Kings XI Punjab was sure of Semi's birth and it was clear that Kolkata Knight Riders will not go to semi's ganguly scored 86 not out his usual style of scoring not out in irrelevant matches to boost averages.

He wasted more balls and made task difficult for others.

and MOM against weak opponents like DC & RC or in irrevelant match? hoot....
Llife should be efforts to win match for a good cricketer.

Does Saurav know that?

IPL 2009 start 1 run in 12 balls.
Just not capable

What is everybody against Dravid and Kumble?
by Nayan Tara on Apr 19, 2009 04:43 PM  | Hide replies

If you see the Cricinfo frontpage, you will see the wagonwheel of Sachin who scored 59 off 49 balls, but not that of Dravid who scored 66 or 48 balls! Why, cricinfo, why? As a matter or fact, most media coverage, in the newspapers too more credence has been given to the Bombay/Chennai match, whereas no importance has been given to the 7th placed team (of last year) beating the current champions.
Anil Kumble's effort is probably the best even in a T20 game, but that also has been pushed into the sidelines....
I hope RCB wins this tournament . . . .

Dear,
Its true, RCB had won against the Champions & Dravid had laid the foundation by scoring half century.

BUT DEAR HAV U SEEN THE TEAM SQUAD OF CHAMPIONS.

Last year most successful bowler Tanveer & Watson and a very good fielder & handy batsman Mohd. Kaif too not in the squad.

Thats why Dravids 50 is side lined against Tendulkar.

Dear you have to score the runs against the quality bowlers like Glen Mcgrath,Shane warne,Zaheer,MAlinga,Vaas,Shaun Pollock, Murli ( not karthik), etc.

regards

u got to score runs no matter who is on the other side ... Dont forget that even royal challengers B lost 3 quick wickets (top ones) ... learn to give credit for true performers :) It's as simple as that ...

dear vishwanath,

its true that who ever is the bowler no matters u have to score runs against him..... BUT AGAINST QUALITY BOWLERS IT IS MORE CHALLEGINGING....

ITS NO DOUBT "THE WALL- DRAVID" & "MASTER BLASTER - SACHIN" BOTH ARE GREAT PLAYERS. BUT they have to consistent.....

i fully agree. Once Dravid scored awell deserved century in a test match. And Sachin agreat ZERO. But the great commentators and in press instead of praising Dravid, they were gaga about how sachin played ten difficult balls and how he got out to a beauty. Dravid effort was just a line or two. Ofcourse the great mentor of sachin who sits in commentary box explained each and every ball sachin played with ease but a beauty he was out.

This IPL is gonna be a damp squib!!
by Spitting Cobra on Apr 19, 2009 04:39 PM

Already the siugns are there....every match is being delayed due to fog, rain, thunder etc...Capetown is a wrong venue...the matches should have been held in Durban and Jo'berg where the weather is far better!!

Wrong choice of venue and wrong selection of centre...unfortunately all matches are going to be held in Capetown it seems...

Australia would have been a better venue in April/May.......
Modi it seems has got it all wrong!!

Why Dravid is Great/
by vsgiri on Apr 19, 2009 04:29 PM  | Hide replies

Whether it is Sachin or Dada , they had all the support from Media , their own politicians and Board. Rahul never had these and fought alone and could have become an excellent captain also as he has won several matches for the challenger series as captain and also oneday's and test matches but non-cooperation and interference due to presence of chappel ( bad luck) Rahul had to keep quiet and never spoke when the team mates did not coopetrate in the WC 2007 as he alone scored the highest against Srilanka when others failed. That is Rahul. Today Pieterson is his captain but you saw how he played. He has always played like this but remained an unsung hero as he is a true gentleman cricketer of the modern era
