D/L system should not be used
by vathula on Apr 20, 2009 01:20 PM

While I am also of the view that DD would have won the match, it is unfait on KXIP. A better option will be the single over with 3 players and one bowler that is used when the match ends in a tie.

IPL vs ICL
by rajesh roul on Apr 20, 2009 10:43 AM

I can not understand on what ground BCCI is saying NO to ICL. They do not have powers to say so. BCCI is not a Government Organization, contrary to other Sports like Hockey, and Foodball, which is governed by Sports Ministry of India. First of all BCCI a non-Governmental Organization taking undue advantage of taking India's name when they play, that is completely illegal. Sports Ministry should take control of Cricket now, and sack these officials from BCCI. BCCI does not have any rights at all to take the name of India when they play against other countries. Sachin Tendulkar, and other players are saying that they are playing for India. I should put this in a straightforward manner, they are playing for BCCI. Next time you see a India Vs Pakistan or any other country, it should be BCCI Vs Pakistan or other country. In every country Cricket is goverened by Government, why not in India. This is completely riddiculous. For example, when Cricket was introduced in the Commonwealth game, BCCI, sent a second ring of players to the game, while the majority of the team was playing in Toronto against Pakistan. What do you think of then? Do they play for India or BCCI? Definitely they play for BCCI. Recently it has been seen how they dis-regarded the indian national awards, while shooting for ad-films. They do not have any respects for India. Government should ban BCCI, and take control of that.

SA conditions are different and pitches are not like concrete roads( Murali's words)

It will be real test to slog here.
Through the line slogs will be difficult and square of the wicket relatively easier.

RCB batting line up looks so strong. Uthappa, Ryder, R.Taylor, Pieterson. Anyone can change the match. RR lost the very good opportunity to beat them.

RR lacks seasoned campaigners in these conditions. Warne can not make up for his batsman.

D/L nonsense
by Trial Court on Apr 20, 2009 08:24 AM  | Hide replies

I think they have already shortened enough the game i.e 20/20 so a furthur reduction in the number of overs, for any reason, seems like making a mockery of cricket. On the other hand what they can do is that they can reschedule the game to the next morning as the morning times are free since no match is played at that time. This way no injustice will be done on any team and we will still get to see the full game. A 50 odd run chase in about 6 overs is a foregone conclusion with 10 wickets in hand. Flaw in the system.

But Punjab would still have lost given their total. Till such time Brett Lee and Shaun Marsh become available, chances of Punjab making it in this championship's last four are bleak, however hard may Preity Zinta wave that flag.

which system are they using?
by Rajnish on Apr 20, 2009 12:28 AM  | Hide replies

Are they not using D/L this time. Report says that tgt was reduced to 54 off 6 overs. In D/L system they have tgt according to the number of wkts that fall. For example; 54 for no loss ir 1 wkt is down than may be 60 and like that. if that was not the case it was very unfair to Punjab since Delhi reqd 81 off 61 balls at the time of rainfall and reducing it to 30 off 25 makes it very easy.

yeah exactly just bcos delhi didn't lose any wicket, target was 54 in 6 overs, otherwise for every wicket loss, target would have been made more stiffer and stiffer.
