I don't think its a good idea to have MCCullum replace Ganguly. Believe me I am not nationalistic; my reasons are: 1) Re. KKR Indian players like Ishanth, etc., Ganguly will know them better and also could manage them better. 2) McCullum is an untested product.

GANGULY KNOWS EVERY OTHER TEAM MEMBER WELL EXCEPT HIMSELF. He is egoistic and lacks diplamacy, a trait that made Dhony acceptable to even his 10 Yrs seniors in the team. Here KKR is playing on commercial lines and the owners always aim to be winners. Any uncertainities due to personal egos or misadjustments with the coach is a threat to them. This is the bottomline

Replacing DADA with Mccullam is the worst dicesion. This a slap on the country cricket icon. we sholud protest on this issue.. Mr> SRK this is not ur bolly show this cricket.. U have to learn so many thinks from a player like DADA..last u was not in even qulify for the semis.. bt this year will be the worst yaer for KKR.
When I read the messages in the forum, i wonder are people even aware what the concept of a league means. I mean, even if a person not liking football reads abt Beckham gng from Man U to Real to the US and back ... do you guys not read anything. I mean kucch to dekh ke samjho yaar. Either u support a team or u dont, its that simple. Also, if the IPL and the govt didnt reach a consensus, then it just had to go out. and if u dont understand abt the ICC cricket window, then why r u even asking the question u r asking. Finally, y is the IPL so important.well the ECB started 20-20 5 years ago, and yet not only are they making losses, but are no where caught the attention of young and old alike like the IPL has done. Come one guys, be proud of your country for a change.

Guys, NDTV has placed a fake poll on it website which has a "Vote" button but it shows hard coded data of 75% ppl showing that Varun shudnt have been released. The js code doesnt have any action on the click of the "Vote" button. NDTV has lost all sense of morality in its effeorts to appease Mullahs. The code snippet on their site is as below: input type=image src=but_vote.gif width=46 height=20 Any web developer can know that this button wont do anything even if you click on it.

Thr were lot of allegations on Barkha Dutt also the way she covered godhra riots being partial to muslims by taking bribe from Arabians....
thr was also allegation of NDTV being pro-congress...where
NDTV first announces person of the year to MMS then cong gives best journalist award to Barka dutt...

I analyzed the code of that... Agree 100% with you... I am not sure why they have to do such fake polls...
And what did Varun say wrongly I still can't understand... I have seen Islamic clerics quoting much more dangerous phrases in public which threatens the unity of this country... Why are they not arrested? For e.g. the congi minister (Anthule) made such anti-national statements and he has gone scot-free...

John Buchanan had his way, as Kolkata Knight Riders decided to have new captain for their first match against Deccan Chargers on April 19 in the Indian Premier League.
According to the reports, New Zealand wicketkeeper Brendon McCullum is set to replace Sourav Ganguly at KKR.

I dont think we need to worry about who is the captain. This is a commercial event and now that the venue is SA we should stap discussing trivia which has nothing to do with what happens on the field Swarup

I HAVE A DOUBT. WE ALL TALK ABOUT IPL WHICH MEANS INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE AND MY CONCIOUS WHILE GOING THROUGH ALL THE NEWS THAT I HAVE READ IS THAT "INDIAN" IN THE IPL IS PURPOSLY NOT "INSISTED" AND ANOTHER QUESTION IN MY MIND IS WE CALL THE MUMBAI TEAM AS "MUMBAI INDIANS" AND WHILE ON GROUND I'M SURE THAT 50% OF THE TEAM ARE NON INDIANS. WHAT IS THE JUSTIFICATION, OR IS IT JUST A "BUSINESS" ONLY FOR EARNING.
Re: IPL
by User on Apr 17, 2009 09:32 AM
Till now I have a doubt, which idiot named the Mumbai team as 'Mumbai Indians'. I donno how the franchise owner felt happy with this name.
While South Africa is excited about this event. Our intellectuals who are nothing but copycats of the English society and who try to 'live up' to English values are sounding more like an old man in the armchair in one of the English counties. This very same event has enough baiters in India who simply cannot digest that their country is capable of attracting positive world attention. These people are more happy when Indian poverty is celebrated in a movie and go out of way to support it but events like this which clearly puts India on top of world cricket is hated. I have friends who do not like IPL, who swear on test cricket but these people do not watch even one complete session of a test match and do watch the 20/20 stuff fully but just for the sake of wanting to sound 'intellectual' they say all the crap that test cricket is superior etc. I've been a fan of cricket for now 25 years (almost ever since i was out of my KG) and i can tell you each version of cricket requires a different kind of capability. If a dravid can save a test then a Yuvraj can win a 20/20 game and both cannot do what the other one does. People like Sunil Gavaskar got away as best batsman of his time as he never had the pressure of having to score at a certain runrate to win a match while the same luxary is not there for Dravid. So, there is nothing like a lesser version of cricket. In IPL quality of cricket is very good and this exposure will only breed better local players

by Agnelo DaSilva on Apr 17, 2009 08:39 AM
20/20 is just entertainment nothing else… it does not improve cricket. There are no techniques involved. However it makes BCCI and its members rich. By the way in your 25 years as a cricket fan; how many nations have been added to the list of cricket playing nations or in how many countries it has been added. Is it fair only to fill the treasury of the boards? Where is the money spent? Even some cricketers mention that it is a dying sport.
Re: Re: Conforming to England and the English
by Jerry Kurian on Apr 17, 2009 09:03 AM
Why is it necessary that whole world should play cricket for it to be accepted. We love cricket and we are 1 billion in number. Most likely other countries are fools if they do not like this game.
Re: Conforming to England and the English
by mayur gondhalekar on Apr 17, 2009 10:28 AM
I totally agree wih you that each form of cricket is equally difficult to play. Sure i like test cricket more than other forms as it brings out a different kind of contest. But at the same time IPL brings out a tough character out of the young cricketers. they get ready to handle pressure. It helps when they graduate to one day or test cricket later on. Its a game to be played by players and enjoyed by the fans(just like any other sport) So enjoy it or hate it but u cant ignore it.
Typical behavior inhibiting the free actions of another. Collectively, all Indians could easily escape from their poverty, but instead, you grab at each other in a useless "king of the hill" competition.
This happens because of short-sighted, non-constructive thinking rather than a unified, long-term, constructive mentality.
So many people in this board who simply resent another Indian's success.
A selfish and desperate lust to pull other people down, denigrating them rather than letting them get ahead.

Hi Rambler , I guess you're refering to Ganguly's comments and if yes , I completely agree with you . He is indeed such kind of person .
I am an Indian , and I also agree to a good extent about the mentality existing in most of us.
Re: carb mentality
by santosh srivastav on Apr 17, 2009 06:57 AM
Rambler is a person who cannot stop criticizing Indians....try to understand what other is saying and you can comment after understanding his point.
Also a person who is quick at abusing others is the weakest of all as he has no words to face the heat.
BCCI is going bad to worst for its crooked mentality.
They started claiming copyrights for all the BCCI related cricket videos on youtube.
So no cricket videos will be easily available to watch on youtube.
For people who are abroad and do not have dish or directv they cannot watch cricket videos even on youtube now.
My question is Indian cricket has become financial engine of cricketbecause of people's interest in the game....claiming the copyrights simply stops cricket fans watch and love the game.
Other big blow for people in america and other countries is they cannot watch IPL on dish tv this time as only Directtv is telecasting the match they have to subscribe that which has a contract of 18 months so for new customers to watch IPL on TV it is
$99(IPL Fee) 29.95(Basic channels of directtv)*18= $539.1 99
In my case last year I have subscribed dishtv and paid 59.95 to dish for IPL. Now it says dish doesnt have IPL this time.
So It is unfair on people like me to watch IPL but they need to subscribe directv paying approx $600....so I convinced myself and ruled out seeing IPL on tv.

Astronomic fines lie in wait for captains and teams that play their cricket at a snail’s pace in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Fines for teams that go over their allotted time are as follows:
a $20 000 fine for the captain that transgresses first;
a $220 000 fine for the entire team when a second transgression takes place; and
a $360 000 fine for a third offence. The captain will then also be suspended for one game
