actual situation
by RonyRide on Apr 11, 2009 07:45 PM  | Hide replies

Chidambaram knows quite well that under congress's rule..the standard of security forces has come down to such a level that PC is not confident of a peaceful IPL. This is not the fault of security forces and police, but the fault of UPA....UPA was not sincere in upgrading the security, ..the training...modern weapons..tactics...intelligence for police and jawans to act upon.

PC knew quite well that if atleast one bomb is blasted by terrorists during elections, security becomes a major poll issue and people will turn out to BJP for security.

Such an idiotic HM who cannot provide security to IPL when elections take place...this shows the strength of the security forces of India.

Even the soldiers cannot do anything much unless there is some support from govt.

Congress is anti-national...

Are you guys wasting your energy?
by Ashok Kumar on Apr 11, 2009 01:51 PM  | Hide replies

I'm indeed surprised that people are so sensitive about shifting of this tournament and keep discussing it in rediff. Don't waste your energies and move on guys.

PC is lying
by Saibaskar Parthasarathy on Apr 11, 2009 01:42 PM  | Hide replies

P.Chidambaram is lying. He planned to derail IPL for reasons which we could only speculate and he is now lying to save the embarrasment he would face when people increasingly will question his inability to provide security. Already the fallout of Government's reluctance has sent a wrong signal in international arena. Recent batminton tournament in hyderabad saw some top players dropping out. Australian davis cup team is having second thoughts about playing in India. Now, we cannot call them hypocritic coz wrong signals went to them from our very own government. Now, PC looking increasingly embarrassed is trying to cover up his rigid position taken during talks by blaming IPL governing body. Sometimes these guys overrate themselves thinking if they close their eyes the world will go dark. Lalit Modi is a hard to like guy but one has to apperciate him for the way he went about changing the venue in such a short notice and there by making hard nosed politicians understand that things dont necessarily need to happen as per their whims and wishes.

It seems his expectation was more compared to offered sum.Basically he was putting pressure on IPL which did not work out for him.If it was divided in two parts ,whole taste will be spoiled. It seems PC is first eating rice then after a break will drink sambhar, rasam and curd.

CORRECT! I have read an article somewhere mentioning that indian army could have been deployed in addition to CRPF for election and IPL could have been conducted. Govt should have recovered the money from IPL and also TAX (which will now go to SA govt.)

Moving IPL was shameful
by Ravi on Apr 11, 2009 01:06 PM

Moving of IPL out of India is a slap on Indian Govt. It has lowered the prestiege of the 'India'. Now what PC is trying to prove. I want to ask him if he tried with his heart to organise the event in India. Both IPL and Govt. are equally responsible for this and should be condemned. Every Indian was shocked with the idea of moving IPL due to security reasons. It was not the first time in the world that a sporting event was organised at the time of election. The problem was the people who would turn out to watch the matches in the Stadia. This simple problem would have been solved easily by enhancing the rates of the ticket upto 3 times so that the number of people turing to the stadia is reduced by 1/3rd. If it was not possible then the BCCI should have limited the sell of only 1/3rd of tickets at the existing price, so that there would have been lesser crowd to maintaing the Law & Order. Nothing of this sort was tried and the reputation of the country has been compromised for the business interest of a few people.

Pathetic lier.. this PC is....
by Manoja on Apr 11, 2009 11:55 AM  | Hide replies

PC, as usual, is lying through his teeth. Everyone knows that the main reason for this joker to refuse giving protection is because of the rivalry with Sharad Pawar. To show Sharad Pawar his place all these dramas.

Narendra Modi very clearly brought out the duplicity of this cunning baffoon. PC had quoted the letter written by DGP of Gujarat refusing to permit the IPL on security grounds. What he conveniently forgot to mention was that this letter was the first one written by the DGP. Later on he retracted from his stance and was willing to host the IPL match in Gujarat. This, the joker PC, conveniently forgot to mention.

CONgress sucks and they suck big time.

Maybe
Just to prove a point Narendra Modi might have pressurised the DGP to write the letter... that too after it was decided that IPL will be shifted. Anyway better safe than sorry. If something like what happened in Pakistan or Mumbai or Akshardham in GUJRAT had taken place during the matches, all of you would have questioned the IPL bosses and the Govt for conducting cricket when elections are going on.
