in last season while the departure of Hayden , hussey and oram chennai did looked weaker,But they came back strongly n reach d final . this time i think they have a very good chance of winnig the IPL ,Simply because Hayden,AB morkal.Tini.Muralitharan,Oram All these players will be available 4 d whole matches in d tournament .And with them d Captaincy of Dhoni n d indian players like Raina, bathrinath,Gony makes chennai really a stong team...... Surely d 2nd season of IPL will be much more competative than d 1st .I would like to see Deccan chargers n Royal challengers do well in this season N they r capable of...............So Get ready 4 a cracking contest
It is too early to claim any team to be the "would be champions". No team can be counted and no team can be left out of the contention. The team that has the greatest momentum will go on to win the title. I Bangalore are a revamped team thanks to addition of Ryder, Taylor and Kevin. So, you can't expect a lacklustre performance from them like the last time. In my opinion the weakest team of this year is KKR. Deccan chargers have some great players in Gilly, Roy and Gibbs. If one of them fires on any day, they will be in safe havens. Last year, they did not come together as a team, lacked confidene and momentum and were less a strike bowler. Mumbai, though, were late to pick up momentum last year, have a few brilliant additions for this year. Local heroes like Shaun and Duminy will add to their strength. There is one strong factor that works out for each team is that they all have south african who have the local knowledge and some are in devastating form. Chennai will be high on confidence as they have a strike bowler in Ntini and a great alrounder in Albie. Kevin and Kallis from Bangalore know the local condition well, too. So is Smith for Rajasthan and Gibbs for Deccan Chargers. I suspect that Flemming may not play that many matches as he will assume a coach's role. Chennai's starts such as Hayden, Balaji, Joginder, Gony, Amarnath all lack match practice. So, how they cope up in their condition camp and practice matches in Durban will be keenly watched. The wait continues.
All the teams have improved a lot with the only possible exception is Kings XI Punjab. Vis a vis last year, my assessment is: Improved teams: KKR, BRC, MI Neutral to better: CSK, DD, DC, RR Gone down a bit: KXIP
I expect the 4 semi finalists will be: CSK, MI, DD and BRC.

Mark my words, Chennai Super Kings will do badly this time. Forget about Semis, they will find it hard to win group matches itself
