I think it wud not be wise to declare early and give Newzealand even a small chance for winning. If India are planning to declare tomorrow morning itself, the presumption wud be the hosts wud not be able to score 550 runs. For reaching that score Newzealand wud have to bat for almost 150 overs. So that means, India wud be hoping to bowl out Newzealand at less than 150 overs time. Now there are almost 190 overs to bowl as play will start early tomorrow. So y take risk? Give them only that much overs within which India are hoping to bowl them out. If not bowled out early it wud be better to bat for almost 45 overs and then declare. I know no team ever in history have taken even 500 runs in fourth innings to win a test match. But history will not give any guarantee for the future!
With play going to be literally impossible on tuesday due to heavy wind & rain, India should have declared on Sunday itself if they wanted to go for a win, unless they can grab all 10 kiwi wickets on Monday !!!!

For some strange reason Dhoni feels NZ may get those 600 runs if it does not rain tomorrow. Dhoni is not worried because India are one up. He is making sure NZ have no chance to win. It is kind of overcaution. He does not have much faith in his bowlers to conatin NZ.
it looks like another wall for ind. but here its a wall with a combination of attacking strokeplay of sehwag style n solidity of wall dravid, embodied in one player viz. gambhir. i think gambhir's innings in second test was the best when he had to perform under pressure to save the match by staying on the field for 2 days.
The pitches prepard for the test series between India and New Zealand remains a mystery. Even when Indians had Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra along with Javagal Srinath -who is regarded as the finest Indain fast bowler - in the team, the New Zealanders prepared wickets typical of the conditions in that country. But it was rather startling to see the pitches on which the current series is being played. One might not be entirely wrong to suspect the influence of IPL money. The New Zealanders look keen to please the Indians.

If that's the case, Sf shoudn't have defeated India in India. And, Aussie would have been India's feat instead on creating havoc in Sydney.
NZ pitches were greener the last time around because they were dropped off pitches, other then that NZ pitches are usually like the one in Wellingtion-sporting wicket. Also, the experts are claiming Zaheer is better the Srinath..

What is curd rice got to do with 'Mature Stud' ? What 'Mature Stud' says is true... many people are never happy to see India excelling in a particular field.
It is like a story of many Indian frogs in a well & none of the frogs is able to come out becoz the other frogs keeping pulling the 'trying' frog down
I think Vettori made the biggest blunder in electing to field first after winning the toss. In a series decider like this, any team would like to bat first and put up a good score to put pressure on the opposition. Moreover his bowlers had already bowled 270 overs just 3 days ago. He could have given his bowlers the much needed rest and allowed them to bowl with renewed vigour had NZ batted first. Even if they could not put up a very big score they could have bowled and fielded well to put pressure on the Indians. Then there is the second innings also. No team would like to chase in the second innings if they want to win or level the series. Vettori had ignored the god given opportunity.
