Ponting would be looking to improve his record
by Ugly Casper on Sep 26, 2008 08:34 PM

Unless Ponting scores heavily in India there will always be question marks on his greatness. I actually fear that this time around Ponting would be extremely determined to make amends and improve his record in India, this does not augurs well for India.

Zaheer should shut his big mouth
by mahim on Sep 26, 2008 01:06 PM  | Hide replies

Zaheer is an average seamer with a high career avearge whereas ponting is arguably the third gretaest cricketer of all-time(after bradman and sobers)coz of his batting, fielding and captaincy
our rotten indian media is saying that this will be ponting's last series and the stammering zaheer has said the same never mind that he has been beaten black and blue by ponting so many times in the past for eg the world cup final, tvs series[people in india are saying that punter is the bunny of bhajji and ishant but thats crap has ponting has also hammered bhajji and ishant has not played much}
we will know after first day of the test series that what will happen
till then our useless media and big mouth cricketers will do their best in talking rubbish and nonsense

Friend u might have forgotten the past and rude comments of Australian pacers in the past, Zaheer atleast expressed in a much better approach than that Aussies deserve, though Ponting is a great player but not an ultimate player to not to make any comment on him, rival players make comments to get an edge before any series gets start, so whats wrong if Zaheer had a comment, and let me clear u people one thing he is an avg seemer but still known as dependable pacer in our side and in present world cricket, and about him he has proved his guttes and made his critics to shut their mouth in the past so many times, including the great player and coach the aussie Grieg Chapple

you are wrong and you dont have any cricketing knowledged as you just pointed out that ponting is the third best cricketer all time. My dear friend you forgot sachin, lara, dravid etc. Where even Bradman said that sachin resembles his style of batting. Just brush up your cricketing skills before commenting the most talented bunch of indian cricketers.

Zaheer has forgotten the Past
by J Jena on Sep 26, 2008 11:34 AM  | Hide replies

If India has to do well against the Aussies, then spinners has to call the shots on turning pitches. Pacers have chance on crumbling pitches. Why are we making noise? Last time the Aussies were here, they squarely defeated us both in tests and ODIs. Aussies will not be amused with foolish statements made by Zaheer. Ponting may not do well, there will be some body else to do well. Its better Zaheer & co to do well on field and them make statement off the field. Has he forgotten, the 2003 final when in the 1st over he made some face to Hayden. After that he & other friends only had faces to hide, not to show! Boys grow up. Don't fool Indian cricket fans with silly remarks.

Thanks suhail, for your very sober remark. This place is full of maniacs, who donot take any genuine adverse comment on Indian Cricket team or its non performing super stars. It has become a fashion now, some of our players like Sreesanth etc resort to this antics of loud mouth to create noise, so that they remain afloat in Indian team more on TRP value than on performance.

Referral system........
by Anurag Rathore on Sep 26, 2008 09:45 AM  | Hide replies

India will have little edge over Aussies because of referral system this time.
We have quality spinner Kumble and Bhajji who can provide us more opportunities of close bat-pad catch and LBW. While Lee and company have only chance with the new ball.
So India can take advantage of referral system this time.
May be we will seen result in all the 4 tests.

Zaheer seems to be forgetting the thrashing he got from the Aussies last time around ... fast bowlers usually have big & loud mouths.

Australia: A much better team
by down_under on Sep 26, 2008 01:50 AM  | Hide replies

I think Aus was done was by Steve Waugh's overconfidence in 2001. Australian used to play very aggressively and go after a win even at a risk of losing. They lost in similar situations to England and South Africa.
Last time when they came to India in 2004, they swallowed their pride, never enforced follow on even after leading by 270 runs and the result was complete humiliation in Bangalore? and Nagpur. Bombay was a total chaos, even though we managed to win by 13 runs.
If Australia play carefully, India will lose 3-0 or so. On Indian wickets our pacers become useless, only spinners are take wickets on big turners. We have trouble defeating WI or NZ in India. Better teams- Aus/SA/Eng defeat them by big margins most of the time. My 2c.

India taking AUS too lightly..
by Sachin on Sep 26, 2008 12:07 AM  | Hide replies

What nonsense is this Zaheer Mullah talking here,he hardly lasts a whole series ala Shoaib Akthar,Ponting is a modern day great and thorough professional, not for nothing he lead AUS to 2 wcup wins without a sinlge loss and he smashed Zaheer and Bhajji among his 10 sixes in wcup 2003 final.Zaheer is jealous of him,yea ponting failed in India so far,so what even Sachin didnt score a 100 in AUS odis until last series, this happens to all greats, that they fail in one place for a while, then they strike and players like Zaheer will vanish into oblivion anytime..
Remember MR Zaheer,u better pray that Ponting doesnt come to form or else u wont play the next series...
THis team of ours with oldies and unfit players are actually taking AUS too lightly and gona pay for it..
Not for nothing AUS are world champs for long time and won 4 wcups, zaheer doesnt know all that, remember zaheer we lost the test series in lanka and we r the underdogs not them..also remember u go crazy when one fan shows a hoarding she loves u,thats all how confident ur..ponting and co will smash Zaheer Bhajji and the old Kumble for sure..i dont even know if Tendul will play and we know Dravid is low on confidence and we dont have Gangs,so we r the underdogs, other than Veeru what do we got to brag right now?

There is a difference between not scoring an ODI hundred in Australia, yet performing at a good average ......... from averaging 12 runs per innings in a country (India) that too in Test matches which is the ultimate Test of a players ability.

you are very correct. I think Zaheer already planed for it. In the first match after bowling 3 overs he will come out of the ground. He feel fit to play against Banladesh, Zim and Ken.
