Even if one chooses to discount his fielding skills, captaincy skills and the fact that he has won two world cups for his country, Ponting would be in the playing 11 of any team in the world for his batting skills alone.
He is a match-saver, a match-winner, he HIMSELF has rarely been involved with spats and dirty sledging (a little heat is always welcome).
Just cuz the Australians are generally regarded as dirty players, sledgers and whatnot, people are accusing Ponting of things he doesn't deserve.
A little respect, folks. Ponting is an asset to Australia. So much so, the moment India gets Ponting, aussies are on the backfoot instantaneously.
He is their dravid, mr. consistent, their sachin, the record breaker, their ganguly, captain material, their laxman, the stylist.
You dont strat worring over rate in the first session of the day. So if Ponting is giving over rate as an excuse it is definitly not correct. Bret lee if mistreated may go as Shaun Tait's went. Ponting is bloody ruthless and shrood to his own guys. Not like Indian - you keep going even if you fail once or twice. Ponting goes for them if they dont get results, or they have couple of bad games. Lee is nearly disintegrated and if we dont give him many wickets in Delhi, I am sure he will be packed back and kept out for the 4th match,

Shard Pawar really deserved it. These idiot politicians think they are bigger than players and take center stage when the players have the right to celebrate. Remeber the function after india won the 20-20 world cup and the team was seated in the second row. Sharad Pawar deserved a kick on his ugly butt and a slap on his face, if he has one!

Agree with most parts, except about 'himself has rarely been involved with spats and dirty sledging'. His sledging may not get noticed because he is outdone in this area by his other team mates whom he encourages passively.

Ponting got carried away regd Pawar. But when will our players get to really celebrate rather than being part of these jokers show and not even being able to meet their families...... (10dulkar wanted to go home and come tp function later)...
Bevan had an affair with Gilchrist's wife and was dropped from the team. Hussey has an affair with Brett Lee's wife and he divorced her. Looks like Hussey's days are numbered.

really? where do u get this news from? If that's indeed the case, then Lee's days are numbered, not Hussey's given his dismal form. Its sad - when it rains it pours.

I guess it was Michael Slater and not Bevan who was having affair with Gilly's wife
