Hello Mr Marsh! You are not going to play against any IPL Team. If you are included in the Playing XI, you are going to play against Team India. So, dont be so excited. Against some other countries, you may enjoy success. Ask Ponting about Ishant Sharma and ask Hayden about Zaheer Khan, before dreaming.

dude your so called zaheer khan was taken to task in IPL by Shaun Marsh...i am not telling that indians are vulnerable...indians are defenitely at their very best at the moment and i would like to see zaheer and ishant meet out the same treatment to shaum marsh...but dont under estimnate this guy...hez defenitely got talent!!!
Even if one chooses to discount his fielding skills, captaincy skills and the fact that he has won two world cups for his country, Ponting would be in the playing 11 of any team in the world for his batting skills alone.
He is a match-saver, a match-winner, he HIMSELF has rarely been involved with spats and dirty sledging (a little heat is always welcome).
Just cuz the Australians are generally regarded as dirty players, sledgers and whatnot, people are accusing Ponting of things he doesn't deserve.
A little respect, folks. Ponting is an asset to Australia. So much so, the moment India gets Ponting, aussies are on the backfoot instantaneously.
He is their dravid, mr. consistent, their sachin, the record breaker, their ganguly, captain material, their laxman, the stylist.

I agree with you fully. I would like to add my own views also.
1. His batting has come in handy in many wins for Australia in both tests and ODIs. Very often people talk so much about the batting exploits and records of Bradman, Lara, Gavaskar, Tendulkar and sometimes even the relatively new KP but it is not proper to forget the contributions of players like Kallis and Ponting.
2. Sometimes, childishly oversimplified statements are made that Ponting is not a great captain and his success is because of greats like McGrath, Warne, Hayden, Gilly, Symonds, Langer etc. in his tenure. People conveniently forget that someone called selector or administrator has considered the qualifications of Ponting to appoint him captain ahead of all these players. Also, it is a much more complex task to captain a side consisting of such greats than a team consisting of lesser mortals.
3. As you imply, his fielding is simply fantastic and some of the catches he takes in mid on and mid off areas are simply mind boggling. What is more, he makes them look so simple and easy.
On this tour, Ponting is under tremendous pressure because his present team lacks a few players. But he proved his mettle by scoring a ton in Bangalore and hopefully will do well both as batsman and captain in the remaining two tests, to make the series more closely fought.

Skipper for NZ Vettori said, we should play as good as Indian players i.e don't expose your craft. now Ozzie indian bowlers are watching carefully, india should come with a variation in their arsenal. Maybe better spin.
INDIA CANNOT LOOSE THE ONE IN DELHI!!! by D S on Oct 24, 2008 05:53 AM Permalink | Hide replies
Selectors cannot leave it in the Air and so should Kumble should opt himself out for the next match and say he will be back for the last one.
Laxman and Dravid need to firm up OR have someone like Rohit Sharma get back into the team.
Since Aussie are dead serious to beat Indian team, they are watching footage of Indian bowling. Indians cannot slack this time.
