Even if one chooses to discount his fielding skills, captaincy skills and the fact that he has won two world cups for his country, Ponting would be in the playing 11 of any team in the world for his batting skills alone.

He is a match-saver, a match-winner, he HIMSELF has rarely been involved with spats and dirty sledging (a little heat is always welcome).

Just cuz the Australians are generally regarded as dirty players, sledgers and whatnot, people are accusing Ponting of things he doesn't deserve.

A little respect, folks. Ponting is an asset to Australia. So much so, the moment India gets Ponting, aussies are on the backfoot instantaneously.

He is their dravid, mr. consistent, their sachin, the record breaker, their ganguly, captain material, their laxman, the stylist.

he is Australiaz Fab four. Some respect, guys.

Whites think it is their birth right to insult colored people.

Whites think it is their birth right to insult the asians, If it was an Aussie who had done it then the honourable Mr. Broad would have pronounced it as no offence (or at best level one offence).

aussie players are like a pack of dogs/ foxes
by raj on Oct 22, 2008 12:27 PM

aussie players know how and when to taunt the opposition. they know the art of sledging, and also the art of deception. they know how to control the scheme that was invented by them.

no wonder everyone around the world echo similar sentiments. indian players are stupid, in following the aussie example - if you follow their style, learn the art of concealing and deception, like they do in avoiding a penalty.

the aussie media is busy trying to prove indians are the worst behaved going by the fines levied on indians, while everyone and their neighbour knows that aussie is the big bad_ass team out there.

sau do sau tho ek tou mein hoga. hayden, ponting, symonds are from the same brand in different packages. key thing is that they know how to fox the umpires into believing the opposition is worse off.

Mates,
what r we doing on this discussion board (including myself), passing on the shit.
u know guys surprisingly after first test match how many endorsement deals are been signed by aussies. FYI Ponting signed 4 and Brett Lee signed 6 ...
Now barking over here at each other is of no point bcoz soon u would see them on tv, magazines, billboards, etc.
and this is bcoz the cos know that the public is fool and have short term memory.
just answer my single question:
HOW MANY ENDORSEMENT DID OUR OLYMPIC WINNER ABHINAV BINDRA SIGNED?
i would be grateful for helping me with an answer.
if not, pls stop pulling each others leg bcoz we are just abusing own own countrymen which is not fair.

The number of endorsements is just a result of how marketable is cricket in our nation. And this sort of victory strengthens the feeling and following. This has nothing to do with Abhinav; he got more than his fair share (measured against the amount of money flow he can generate in the economy) with governement subsidies and benefits on his return.

It is the same world over - in US, even a star like Beckham cannot draw more people than a mid-level star of NFL or NBA. It only shows the regional marketability - nothing more and nothing less.

It is the same - cricket is more marketable than 10m rifle shooting in India. Answer this - would you be visiting a blog on competitive rifle shooting; or would you bunk work and watch rifle shooting on TV; or would you buy the replica of the jersey that Abhinav wore when he won the gold? There is no room for socialistic or altruistic rhetoric here - cricket is more marketable and so cricketers get better opportunities. Nothing more - nothing less !!

We can beat Aussies without all these violations
by Ramakrishnan J on Oct 22, 2008 07:56 AM

Let our cricketing skills do the talking and not all these sort of violations. We need to play always in the spirit of the Game.
