Can you all take a note that none of the bowlers have been succeeded who have taken a 5-wicket haul in their debut test... Really intresting but we have to look forward on how this guy Amit Mishra does in the coming future...

dada is not humiliated but its ppl who tried to put him down are humiliated. ban such ppl from watching cricket who cant support the person who changed the whole Indian cricket when it was nose diving in the hands of records holder tendulkar.

kumble n the future of india.
by vinay on Oct 20, 2008 12:54 AM

its not that kumble shud b replaced immdtly but now is the time for young mishra to b nurtured so that when kumble retires, v dont feel his absence, unlike ausis who r feeling the absence of warne to a gr8 extent. the void that warne has created is not yet filled by ausis.

Kumble, retire gracefully while you still have time
by kaushik saha on Oct 19, 2008 06:54 PM Permalink | Hide replies

Like Dada, else get ready to get humiliated

We have 2, not one who are very very competent replacements of yours, both of whom are in Warne-McGill mould (big turners) - Chawla and now Mishra

So-time to bid adieu

anyway - you have achieved all you could have - 600 plus wickets in tests, 300 plus wickets in ODIs - captaincy of both teams (yes, he captained India in 2 ODIs in late 90s), and won matches as captain and player both home and away - played WC final, taken 10 wickets in an innings, scored a test 100, that too at the Mecca of cricket - I dont think any Indian bowler can ever come close to you

We, your passionate fans dont want to see you humiliated - we have already seen that to a legend (Dada) which pained us a lot - so please retire while people still ask Why? rather that Why not?

The test captaincy would be in competent hands (preferably Veeru) - so dont worry about that

I agree with you Kaushik other than having Veeru in indian team, he is not at all consistent player. We need to find some more batsman better than him, anyway He should retire now......

5 wicket debut

You have forgotten that Prasad also took 5 wkts in his debut match at lords , a rarity, in 1996- same match that Dada hit a maiden test hundred.

I was a boy , playing truant from school who watched V V kumar bowling in his debut match at kotla on 1960.(Hanif was part of the team)

Kumble, please sit out in next test
by kaushik saha on Oct 19, 2008 06:27 PM

Nisar - in the pre-kappil era, he was our best and fastest bowler

Doshi had 100 plus test wickets

Kumble can replace Mishra by virtue of being a captain, however, his pathetic bowling performances in recent times as well as pathetic captaincy means he would do well to stay away

Kumble captaicy record

played - 13
won - 3
lost - 5
drawn - 5
win:loss ratio - 3:5

at home

played - 6
won - 1
lost -1
drawn -4

Away
played - 7
won-2
lost -4
draw -1

Dhoni (despite being no great test batsman)

played as captain -2
won-1
1 match in progress
