Kumble

First the 11 member team has to be selected and then choose the captain from the 11 member team, easpeically if he is a captain. Seeing the past history, Mohali is a fast, pace pitche and we need 3 Medium pace bowlers. we suffered in Bangalore due to lack of 3rd seemer.

Coming to Dhoni's captaincy, this is a very golden opportunity for him to prove as a captain as we all know Kumble is going to retire very soon and we need to find an alternative very soon. Wtever we have seen in the 2nd innings of Bangalore test, Dhoni is very aggrerssive in terms of bowling changes, fielding changes and we got about 4 wickets ina space of 40 overs when dhoni was caqptaining. Some how kumble became very defensive once he is came back to lead the side after 40 overs. So Dhoni is n ot an unknown quantity with respect to Leading the side.

its a strategy

as capt cant b dropped, the team management has decided to show injury as the reason for leaving out kumble. that way other pacer munaf can play in the match in pacer friendly wkt at mohali

regrr ind secondtest at Mohali
by Sridhar krishnaswami on Oct 17, 2008 05:48 AM  | Hide replies

I think kumble a great bowler lost his calibre due to injuries. India after getting a good chairman k.srikanth selction committee there must not be ego problem between the players. Ganguly, and lakshmanan shined in their secondinnings. Youngster have to given a chance to get a better score ann baet the kangros Rickyponting team this my view nd suggestions.NO politics in games atleast in india.

Better to rest for Mohali
by Crick fan on Oct 17, 2008 05:41 AM

Its better for Anil Kumble to sit out and recover fully for 3rd and 4th matches. Mohali as such is not very spinner friendly though Kumble has good past outings at this ground. The 3rd and 4th Mayches are on spinners pitches.

oldies will play even without limbs
by gokul dharmana on Oct 17, 2008 01:49 AM  | Hide replies

After 35 it is common for people to suffer frequent injuries as a result of overuse and weaker bones, muscles. But our fab four will not vacate their seats even if none of their limbs are in working condition. They will play even if they are 20% fit and will do a half baked job at fielding but they won't give up their postions for a stronger, younger player. If they spend 90% of their time tending to injuries and healing their old bodies, missing every alternate match, how will they have the necessary practice required to perform at the highest level in the tournaments?

As long as they can make India win (or even draw at the very least) then we shouldn't crib about their age. Period.

Lets talk abt who can replace matchwinners, be it sachin saurav or anyone else, if someone can win matches and contribute well for the team, he qualifies to replace anyone, be it sachin or munaf patel

all 11 playing for position?
by raghavendra on Oct 17, 2008 01:49 AM

To get a wicket you don't have to turn the ball in feets. To get a quality batsman out you have to create enough doubt and make him play few inches away from the line of the ball. Kumble done this all through these 20 years. Many dissmissals of kumble are top order batsman than tale enders. That shows his quality of spin. For spinner to take 5 wickets on the first day of a test match you have to be the master of the art.

A team in which all the 11 playing for their position won't look good. isn't it? so selectors won't drop players like knee jerk reaction.

What about Sachin??? Who went to Srilanka just needed less than 180 to break the record, now after 8 innings still require more innings to break it…. Disgusting

Dear Ignes..Please be careful when you utter words about greats. What have you contributed to Indian sports or the country in general? Sachin is the greatest of all and he will exit gracefully at some point of time. If you type rubbish again then your IP will be tracked and MNS will not leave you alone. Be careful

Sachin Tendulkar or GovernmentEmployees-Who is the best???
by rahul bajaaj on Oct 17, 2008 01:31 AM

If BCCI is a private firm owned by Sachuuu, then he can chose his retirements or VRS or nothing as he does now.
Even government employees today are fearful about non perfomance.
