Which is better : Sania Mirza 91 rank / thousands or Sachin 25/40
by J Jena on Oct 15, 2008 10:05 AM  | Hide replies

Sachin : Ranks 25 / out of 40 contenders(8 playing country with 5 regular batsmen)Constantly falling performance standard(except last Aussies tour). Still hogging limelight because of past performance, CLOSER TO LARA'S WORLD Record.

Sania Mirza : Falling performance, Ranking. But still inside top 100 in a much more competitive event. Similarly hogs limelight for past ranking (20 odd), prettier face, nose ring, affair with bollywood star.

Currently both are more injured than fit.

Both fading icon. Saina Nehwal, Badminton player is next youth icon. She believes , she can beat any player. She almost entered olympic quater-final.

Recently won taipei open

If she pulls out againt chineses no1 -2 in any major event , she will be star

pls don't compare sachin to sania, that's the least we can do for sachin after the joy he has given us through his batting all these years. Sachin is at a stage in his career where rankings don't need to justify his gr8ness, just 6 months back after the australian tour he was no 1 in the rankings so these rankings don't justify a players caliber.

what a stupid comparison !!..
Tennis and cricket are totally different games..but even if you think that way..Tendulkar is in the category of Roger Federer(who is Sania mirza??)..Sachin is in the same ranks as Mohammad Ali,Tiger Woods,Pele,Steffi graf....
In his 19 year long career ,he remained in top 5 list for 14 years..and has the record of having most records in international cricket..
and u are comparing the Great Sachin with sania...??
and why ??,How??..only 40 for Sachin and Thousands for Sania??...

Shame on him. Wasting chances of promising youngsters. Selfish.

You are giving a life time opportunity to Sachin to continue. With only 8 playing nations, there will be hardly 100 players to compete against Sachin.

Why other countries like China, USA etc. don't have potential to face India in cricket?

Regarding football : Both China & USA are doing well, they are there in the World Cup starting line up.

Even in football, once we were force to reckon : India reached semifinals of 1956 World Cup, One Asian Games gold medal some time in the 60s.

Sachin the great

I think most Indians cannot tolerate the idea of another fellow countryman rising to such a level. We dont mind singing praises of Ricky ponting but never miss an oppurtunity to target Sachin. That is why god does not send champions to India. That is why we have only one individual olympic gold medalist in 100 years, that is why foreigners plundered all the wealth from India.Because we salute the gora sahib and spit on our own people.Sachin should not have been born in India.India does not deserve him.

You should dispassionately compare the contributions of Ricky Ponting and Sachin Tendulakar to their respective countries in terms of the number of matches that they have won for their respective teams (by their special performances, the kinds of match situations wherein the have excelled or succumbed, the big match temperments, their examples from the point of leading from the front, whether they have played for the Team or for their own records etc. If you objectively examine these factors, you can find the answers for your self.

ricky ponting played with a certain shane warne, mcgrath and brett lee. Sachin never had that luxury. One can cite the example of 2003 WC. The ausies scores 360 and still sachin was blamed for that loss. It's unfair to expect that sachin can win us those games. Do you think if india had batted first and scores the same amount of runs would the australians have chased it down? How can you say that sachin plays for himself, every single run he has scored or will score counts for the team also.

Mr. Varun,

Under the above parameters, if your answer is "Sachin Tendulkar", I respect your views and answer. But your statement of "every single run scored by .... counts for the country' is too obvious. Your do not need a rocket science for arriving at that.

Mr. Varun,
If you have got the answer as "Sachin Tendulkar" under the the above parameters, I respect your answer.
But stating that "every single run he has scored for himself counts for the contry" is stating the most obvious. You don't need rocket science for arriving at your statement.

In Australian team they have Hayden, Katich who score the runs in hundreds befora Ricky Ponting comes for batting. Do you know what is the situation for India (Specially before the rise of Sehwag)??. What Ponting had done if there were no such cricketeres in his team?

Bowling 10 overs in ODI is good, but I suspect he can bowl 30 plus overs with same intensity in test. Munaf fitness for test is doubtful.

Come on... He played Irani trophy very well following up ODI success in Sri Lanka. Dhoni realizes his value & called him in Austalia Oneday series , he provided early breakthro' in Aus also.

It is matter of time when Dhoni becomes Test Captain , Munaf will be one of the seamer if three seamers are selected( Foreign soil of Mohali/ A'bad track)

a tripple century
by vinay on Oct 15, 2008 08:10 AM

if a tripple century even at school level games can get u in the limelight n give u a berth for the intnl matches in tests like in case of sachin n kambli.

but here, a magnificent triple century, almost quadruple century, of 386 runs in ck naidu trophy scored by pujara. but no one seems to b interested. y its so biased.

just start one topic on sachin, saurav, dravid, either as their fans or haters. n see the msg board gets dumped with so many msgs either in support of or against these players.
majority of them praising or blaming rubbish without any logic. is this is the purpose of this forum?
